Does the 123B code on dash means time to change trans fluid? And is this set by a certain miles then it comes? I already change it before the the code appeared

Did you let the car heat up at all? Or just go through shifting the gears 3 times? I’m curious if the drain checker should be done with the fluid hot or just barely warmed up?

Hi William, The car was hot because it was driven. Hope that helps, but when you pour the fluid in the fluid is cold, but either way I don't think it will make too much of a difference. Hope that helps! ghettodiy

Synthetic and specialized oils for motors and transmissions now do not expand or break down like conventionals so it doesn't matter. Thats why mobil1 boasts 20k miles vs 3-5k for conventional. If you lose fluid you have a leak or burning it through cylinder rings. My 2014 civic will use a half quart ever 6-8k miles i top it off and change it at 15k after a short run with a second half qt add in to dilute impurities. Even the filter is rated for 20k and you honestly could change it every other time. 40k. Insane but air force mechanics will argue its safe lol 250k still running like new doing this. Just use the thin 0W-20 full synthetic as it calls for. Its Honda 👌
Thanks for posting the video. I just changed my 2014 EX and bought only 4 quarts. I was able to see the first over flow after the starting the 4th bottle. But after starting the car and topped off with very little overflow lost, poured all of the 4th bottle with out any over flow? According to my findings, it should take 3.9 quarts.

Hi Nate, thanks for watching. There is no dipstick in the 2015 Honda Civic CVT. The way to check the fluid is to top it up until the fluid comes out of the fill hole (the car has to be level). Hope that helps!

@@ghettodiy7114 Hey thanks for the info! Also I have another issue. The fill plug keeps popping off and was wondering if that was an issue for you or anyone who sees this comment. I have a 2015 civic lx cvt. A lot of forums say this is a common problem people are having
@ghettodiy7114

@@Nate-Dawwg Hi Nate, I don't have that issue on my car, the fill plug is very snug, although my car only have 80000KM. If you know someone with another 2014-2015 civic, you can try to see if theirs will also fall off if you put it on yours, perhaps the seals are worn out and you may have to buy a new one. Try not to run the car without the plug, contaminants would get in and possibly damage your transmission over time.

Hey Luis, make sure the car is level, then add enough so the fluid spills out. If it doesn't spill out after 4 quarts perhaps your driveway/garage isn't perfect level ground. Cheers

8/2021: Searching KZread unsuccessfully for location of CVT transmission dipstick 2015 Honda Civic LX Sedan. Finally read the Haynes Repair manual: certain Civic's (like mine) have a filler plug, but do not have a transmission level dipstick. One has to raise the vehicle on jack stands, then remove the fluid check plug. If level is correct, fluid should just start dripping from the hole.

Hi Abofhd Fhd, there should be a maintenance code "3" when it's time to change the CVT fluid. It came on at 85000km for me. If it's past that there is always a risk of problems when you do change the fluid as it has been running past the maintenance interval. You ll have to gauge of the risk of making it worse by changing the fluid. Hope that helps!
