Nice observation Vincente. Here is my personal take on your comment. For the most part Balintawak practitioners fight at a close range so in an even exchange there is a good bit of use for the left hand. Most of what you are seeing is a counter to counter exercise meant to build up the reflexes and work timing, these are not fights.

As far as real fights go, In a weapons duel you may start from a longer range. I'd also argue that a real fight often takes place in a close quarters situation like indoors where there isn't room to keep distance. The use of the left hand, head and body movement of Balintawak can be applied to empty hands fighting which takes place at a closer range. Hope my explanation helps you!

Isn't it too close way of stick fighting? Everybody is offering his hand to be trapped. In a real fighting encounter you start at a distance and you have to hide your hand so that it doesn't get hit and disarmed
