2013 Honda Pilot Test Drive & Crossover SUV Video Review
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The 2013 Honda Pilot is a very flexible vehicle and one of only a handful of crossover SUVs with a third row of seats. Since 2003, the Honda Pilot has become a favorite people mover of the masses. This second generation Pilot was totally redesigned in 2009 but recently received a facelift in 2013. There are 4 different trim levels and the Pilot can be equipped with FWD or as a 4x4. The base price for the LX FWD model is $29,520 with the top of the line Touring 4x4 with Rear Entertainment and Navigation $41,270.

Most people prefer SUVs to Minivans; even though an SUV cannot carry as much cargo or passengers as a Van can. As you will see in this test drive video review, the 2013 Honda Pilot comes close to doing everything a Minivan does. FWD is standard and AWD is optional on this mid-sized crossover SUV. And while the Pilot really can't do serious off-roading and only tows 4500 lbs; the Pilot is built to meet the needs of most drivers.
On the outside the 2013 Honda Pilot appears to have been designed with a T-Square because this crossover SUV is first and foremost a utilitarian vehicle and not something extra stylish or flashy. Under the hood lives a 3.5 liter V-6 engine that makes 250 horsepower and 253 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is still a 5-speed automatic. Fuel Economy is even with the rest of the pack at 18 MPG ion the city and 25 MPG on the highway.
Cargo space wise the 2013 Honda Pilot will hold 18 cubic feet behind the 3rd row seats, fold those down and you get 47.7 cubic feet, and fold down the second row and you now have a very large 87 cubic feet of cargo volume. Inside the Pilot is very roomy in the second row easily fitting 3 passengers. As mentioned before the Pilot is very utilitarian and that theme continues to the inside of the SUV where there is plenty of storage bins and the dash is well sorted.
The 2013 Honda Pilot might not be the best looking mid-sized crossover SUV on the road, but it is incredibly practical for families large and small. In the end the pilot is a safe, affordable, practical, and comfortable SUV.

My wife got a '12 pilot last May and it's been awesome. It front & 2nd row seats are huge with wide bottoms, & the 3rd row really does seat adults comfortably. She had one of the first Elements in '03 & this drives like a larger version just much more quiet. This is the best people mover out there that isn't a minivan. It looks like a truck too not a round blob like most of these new crossover suvs. The new Explorer comes to mind.
This is what you call a REAL REVIEW. Congratulations
One of the best family and sports utility vehicle
Nice review, Chris!
Really Good Review.
This fellow is a real good reviewer.
We love our 2015 Pilot! Bought for much less than our best price on the smaller Toyota highlander
Excellent review
Good review.
love this suv
Very good review. Appreciate. You look good with the FULL PANTS ON.
Have the 2010 model since 2011 and have never accidentally hit the shifter into neutral. I like the location of the shifter, use it as a hand rest to switch up on long drives.

Same here….I have the 2013 and it’s going on 10yrs now and not once have I knocked the shifter into neutral.
I've never bumped the shifter. But I'm also 6'5 and sit further back.
hey #shelbycobra78 The @Honda Pilot is built on the same platform as the Honda Accord and Odyssey so thus it is considered a crossover even though its as large as an SUV and has a 3rd row of seats
i second that
guys i know the pilot wont win any beauty pageants.....but personally, i've tested many rental SUV's mostly to see how they drive and how they feel.....and let me tell you...once you tested all the competitors and added all the pros and cons....seriously, you end up with the pilot....not a looker like a range rover, but will get the job done in a simple, honest, and RELIABLE way.

This guy is good
While I agree about the weird position of the shifter, it wouldn't have happened if you used the steering wheel control to change your radio station.
The twilight zone packaging honda pulls off with the CRV is even more pronounced in the Pilot. It's shorter than many mid size cars but feels like a full size SUV inside.
i own 1 Honda pilot I will buy again if they introduce a hybrid one
I think they get their name for being based on front wheel drive platforms.
How tall are u?
is this a 2wd?
Hi Chris, Love the review. I have read that when the Pilot goes into ECO mode and the VCM kicks in, there is noise and vibration, and that Honda doesn't have a fix for it. Did you experience this when driving the Pilot? If anyone else has experience this problem with their Pilot I would love to hear from you. Looking at the Pilot and the Explorer what would you recommend? Thanks, Lisa

great reviewer, but i still miss Ron
Keep it right under 80 on the freeways and you are running with 4 cylinders. Long trips you should be getting 25-27 mpg with 2WD. Yes the dash needs a reboot. The shifter needs to stay on the dash but be moved up higher. This gives you a huge covered storage area. Since it's a box you can fit 2 NOT 3 adults in the 3rd row. The 3rd row needs more seat bottom padding. The mirrors need a integrated blind spot mirrors. This is getting rebooted like the MDX was in 2014.

Learn how to adjust your mirrors properly and actively using them eliminates any need for fancy mirrors. The typical blind spots are non-existent in my world of vehicles when driving, there are places we can't see without a camera (rear below window and bumper) and in front of side mirrors (wheel and fender area) and front bumper.

Really wanna get the vcm turned off, buy the after market device and it’ll really save your engine. The one bad thing about these.

Wow a 10 year old post. Sold it to Carmax when the lease was up. Only issues were a fog light died & the center console USB port wasn't plugged in. Otherwise a great vehicle. @@Freemasonshair

@@BTC909 glad it was good to you! Test drove a 2012 yesterday and it was weak, 84k miles and the eco mode popped on, then turned off and check engine light came on. Either not taken care of or unlucky I guess.
