Tech28 did an excellent job of explaining everything, even the little details. I've swapped tranny's so many times in my life that I've lost count but as I get older and newer vehicles get more complicated and more stupid with installs that I need a little help beforehand. I watched every minute and while I did this "on the ground" and it was "a pain" you made it as easy as it could be for me. I struggled with that stupid plate between the engine and tranny, what a joke and I struggled with that stupid reare mount with the three bolts. The shaft on the passenger side was actually easy but I had a good idea before hand from this video. Took me around six hours tires off to tires back on and off the jacks non stop no breaks on my back and in the hot sun.

Hey great job! I can’t even imagine what it would be like swapping it out on the ground, what a pain in the butt! Props to you for slamming that one out :)

what would cause leaking transmission fluid between engine and transmission? Moreover, I replaced the oil pump and it still leaks from that area?

Just replaced the torque plate following this. Thank you. However, when trying to start the car the starter is hitting the ring gear and not meshing. I get a click/no-start. Any ideas on what to try to get it aligned? The engine is also much harder to turn over by hand, compared to your video.

@@Tech-28 Good point, yes. I did double check that it was not backwards via the ring gear welds and bevel change. At this point, given then engine is hard to turn over by hand...I'm thinking maybe engine bottom end.

My 2017 caravan dropped out of gear and won't shift properly. I put it in drive and it doesn't go. But if I rev the engine to 3 or 4k rpm, it makes the car go 15mph or so and then drops out of gear. Mechanic said tranny is shot. Worth getting a second opinion? Anything else could be the problem? 136,000 miles

Check fluid level and if it is good, replace it. Go to car-part.com to get a junkyard tranny if you want something cheaper then what a new one would cost.

I had the same thing happen to my 2015 a couple of years ago, i thought for sure the trans was done. Luckily a trans fluid and filter was only needed. Ever since then, I've religiously done this maintenance myself.

I have a 2012 Caravan with 170k and original drivetrain. Trans doesnt shift fantastic but its doing alright. I just change fluid/filter every 40k and try to baby it. Seems some 62TEs last and some go to heck at surprisingly low miles. Same with the 3.6 valve trains. I have also seen several examples of these original drivetrains with 300-400k miles. I guess its a crap shoot...

After doing the swap the van when passing someone at 65 and downshifting from 6th to 5th and the back to 6th it jumps out of gear and will rev to kingdom come and will not shift back up, coast to a stop and it clunks hard and then it shifts normal. I don't understand what's wrong. No codes with my cheap Walmart reader. I didn't do a quick learn does it need that after your tranny swaps?

you can try to do a quick learn on it and see if its any better but it sounds like your transmission has an internal issue.

I'm doing this job now. That bracket for the carrier bearing is the stupidest design I've ever seen, makes no sense to have 3 bolts. Also, I'm not sure why they couldn't design a front mount that doesn't require that front-to-back brace for the front motor mount. 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂🤷‍♂🤷‍♂

Calling dodge a crap could only come from someone who is GM or FORD fan in my case GM stand for Garbage Motors. Dodge is no different from any other car if you take care of but if you don't then any car is a crap? If Dodge is a crap as you say then why are so many sales and why are lot of people buying it? I travel a lot and most trucks on the road I see is Dodge truck not GM but I see more Fords than GM? What I am saying don't call any car a crap like what is expectancy of Pontiac G6? 160.000 km or 100.000 miles and then everything starts to go I kno I have one and every week I have to replace something sensors, bulbs etc. So I could call GM a crap but that is a fact of life. Dodge caravans expectancy is about 200.000 km and the treason why are so many repairs is there is so many vans.
