Do I need the add a circuit if the line output converter has a remote wire on it?

A small issue with that remote wire location is that the fuse box you tapped into is the BCM so every output is monitored. If the vehicle were to be scanned, there would be a code in there for that circuit because there is too much current being drawn. It’s not gonna hurt anything, though, as it’s obviously very minuscule. There’s a fuse panel in the rear driver side behind the carpet panel in the cargo area and is a much better source as it has two buss bars, one being hot all the time (right) and one being ignition (left). Another note - if you wanted a shorter power wire run, you could also remove the battery and battery tray (which also requires removal of the air box) and there’s a grommet in the firewall there as well. Either one is a lot of work on an ST/RS, but it’s a lot simpler to take the passenger side route in an SE as there’s literally nothing over there haha Just some future reference, might make it easier on the next one!

I’m about to do this install and have had no luck finding a thorough explanation on how to do this cleanly and without worrying. Thank you! This video is perfect man. Do have a question though, with the stock sun plugged back in and not bypassed, does this mean that you would have the stock sub still working? Thanks!

Factory audio system (including the sub) was still operational, we kept it all in play, so yep, factory sony sub still working.

the add a fuse is the line the to tell the amp to turn on?

How do you access the inside of the grommet? I can't even fit my hand under the glove box. I can see the fuse box and some cables but I don't see the grommet.

Can you not use the fuse box in trunk for remote?

With this configuration, will the sub volume change as you change the volume of the other speakers? Or is an additional step required to do that?

Nope, sub volume will adjust with the factory audio system.

hey, i had bypassed the factory amp the same exact way as you had showed in the video. but without installing a new sub. i do have a aftermarket headunit, but all connectors are being used and the issue im having is my audio at full volume is maybe half volume. i was hoping maybe youd be able to help.

What size fuse did you use with circuit adder I see you used original 7.5 fuse but what size was the other fuse I should use?

7.5 amp fuse was the original fuze in the 1st position, your amp turn on wire only needs about an 1 or 2 amps really, so a small fuse size is all thats needed.

Hey I have done 2 installs on ford focuses, I’ve found that the easiest way is to grab a flathead screwdriver and just kinda wedge it in between the side of the grommet and leave it there and feed the wire through the gap made by the screwdriver, no cutting required

Will this work with a 2012 focus titanium with that Sony sound system?

Hi . Could you tell me how to stop the amp from cutting out randomly , so no bass coming from the sub . I have to switch off lock car wait a couple of minutes open it again then sub works , then goes out again after about 20 mins and you have to do it all again . Many thanks

Sounds like poor wiring and connections. I’d recommend visiting your local audio shop.

Been in touch with 4 audio specialists who tell me my system has been wired correctly by the company who installed it . The 10x speaker Sony system here in the UK does not have a amp like yours does in America and a aftermarket sub and amp will not work with the 10x speaker Sony system here , so ive been told . So wiring has been checked 4 times by different specialists . Voltage is correct at battery and at the amp . Two NEW Audison Prima 10" active subs have been tried and they both cut out , so its not the hardware its the crap car thats the problem . I have been told the head unit is cutting out the bass . All factory speakers work fine . If i connect the factory sub under the boot floor , they both cut out . But if i unplug the aftermarket sub/ amp the factory sub work perfectly No one knows the answer . So this is what i am offering . .. £1,000 GBP to anyone who can make this work so the bloody thing does not keep cutting out .

.. Forgot to mention . This only seems to happen with the 10 x speaker Sony focus cars not the ones with the lower priced factory system , and its not just my ST . I have found six other people with the ST and RS cars that have exactly the same problem . Who just want a bit more bass .

I just wouldn’t trust that amp location to not overheat and go into protection mode. Really clean install though.

Couldn’t you have ran rca cables from the head unit ?

There are no rca outputs on OEM head units which is why you need a line out converter of some sort to provide signal to your new amplifier.

And the audio to the sub 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ , how you connect it to the head unit 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
