    I know this is an old video, but its still relevant. FYI, if you're driving your car hard enough to need an oil cooler (long spirited driving sessions on the back roads in 90+ degree weather, the track, etc) then you might as well be installing the FMIC as well. You've already got the entire assembly apart. An upgraded FMIC is an absolute necessity if you drive your car other than casual daily driving. It's more important than an oil cooler as the factory one causes heat soak very quickly which literally robs power, long before your oil is over the 250+ temps. This is the only upgrade I have yet to do and I regret having to tear my bumper again to install it lol. Also, thanks for sharing. Great how-to video!

    Hello Mishimoto Team, Wouldn''t having the fittings facing down cause the oil to drain from the oil cooler and into the oil pan? Leading to excess level of oil at the oil pan and air pockets in the system upon start up? I'll appreciate a lot your response.

    It's possible to see a slightly higher oil level, however, the oil system is not meant to be bled of air like the coolant system. The oil pump will typically prime the system while the motor is cranking before firing up.

    Two questions, do the oil cooler lines or cooler have to be prefilled before you turn on the vehicle and secondly do you need to increase the amount of oil the car uses or can it use the normal amount of oil?

    Upon cranking the engine over, the oil pump will prime the system. The increase in oil capacity with this kit installed is 0.65 qt.

    Which hose goes into the cooler does it matter what side both hoses go into?

  • @mishimoto

    It wont make much of a difference but you will find that due to the lengths one hose will fit better than the other for any given port.

    Is this kit adaptable to fit a 2007 focus st 2.5?

    Hey Byron. Unfortunately, we were not lucky enough to have the 07 ST here in the states, so we did not get a chance to do any testing with it. Generally speaking, our kits are a direct fit. With that said, the chances of the mounting brackets and hose lengths being perfect are quite low.

    When do you add oil to this if everything is upside down? the second you go to mount it the oil will drain out

  • @mishimoto

    @mishimoto

    You add oil the same way you add oil to your engine during an oil change. The cooler does not require to be filled ahead of time.

    I appreciate it I thought that might be the case. I just didn't know if it would suck all the air out of the oil radiator itself.

    The oiling system of an engine does not require to be bled like the cooling system.
