信越本線が朝から不通になっていた26日木曜、夕方から特雪が走ったもののあまりの大雪に金曜にはすぐに列車の運転見合わせ。そんな状況下、土曜日になる深夜0時、JRの公式に運休の上除雪との発表がありました
関山のアメダスの値で朝には積雪深が3mを超え道路はどこも極めて高い雪壁。
アメダスの値で前回の除雪から降った雪の量もざっと見ても70cmを超える...つまりそれだけ線路の上につもっている状態。
側雪で溝になっている分吹きだまってもいたのでしょう、線路には少しだけ動いた間に再度生成した車両を隠すほどの雪壁と線路の真ん中を埋め尽くした1m近い雪。もはやラッセル車や小型の排モの手に負える状態ではなくDD14が突破をかける事態となりました
新井-二本木で現れたDD14はもはやかき寄せロールバーも見えず、ウイングからは雪がこぼれ落ちている状態。列車番号は雪9064がついていたそうですが、最早ダイヤなど関係なくとにかく道を切り開くと言う以外の事はなかったと思われます
しかしながら、新井までの道のりでも極端に雪が多い上に何度も雪が除雪装置につまり一進一退を繰り返す状態。新井-二本木のこの動画のポイントにさしかかったとき既に13時を回っていました。日没による条件悪化もあり、土曜日は二本木で作業打ち切り。妙高高原までの除雪は日曜日に持ち越されることとなりました
日曜日も午前中から除雪を開始したものの妙高高原にたどり着いたときは19時過ぎ
作業が思うように進まなかったことと、雪崩の恐れから2/15の開通まで長期の運休となりました
This is a snow blowing train in Japan, Niigata prefecture operated by type DD14 locomotive. It is Japan National Railways standard snow blower.
Train operation in Shinetsu line (Kurohime-Naoetsu) had been canceled since Jan. 26th morning. At 24 o'clock in Jan. 27th (Fri), JR East R.W. Company announced cancel of train operation in 28th(Sat) due to snow removal.
AMEDAS system showed more than 3m of snow depth in the morning and all road in this area was surrounded very high snow wall. AMEDAS data showed approximately 70 cm of snowfall in Friday night.
Rail road was covered more than 1m of snow. It would be because of snow drift. It is too much snow to remove with snow plow train. Snow blowing locomotive, DD14 was required.
I met DD14 between Arai and Nihongi station at first in this day. I cannot see snow scraping rotor but found overbrimming snow from gathering wing of DD14. In addition to huge amount of snow, road deicing system for crossing causes clog up of snow duct. Its operation was not progressing as scheduled. Even though operation schedule was defined, it had no meanings and everything operaters were able to do was simply work hard. Snow removing operation was closed up at Nihongi Station. Remained work was continued in the next day.
It was about 7 in the evening when snow removing operation was finished and DD14 arrived at Myoko-kogen Station.

    Thank you for the English description. I enjoyed watching the DD14 hard at work. 1m of snow on the railroad!!! Looks very cold, but thank you for braving the cold to take this video.

    かっこいい・・・・・ 僕の住んでる名古屋辺りだと高山線でも普通のラッセル車が走るだけ。特雪はほとんど来ないので撮って見たいです!
