2012 Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang Review - After 1 year of ownership!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have owned a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 for 1 year now. These are my thoughts and reviews on the car so far.
We talk about the 2007-2014 GT500 & the 2020 GT500, as well as the 2003 and 2004 terminator cobra's.

My wife really loves the color of your car. We had a GT Kona Blue 2010 3V that blew up in 2014 that got traded in for the 2014 GT-500 we have today. I debated making MOD's for about 3 days. I added K&N Cold air intake, Borla CAT Back Exhaust, w/Borla X pipe, smaller super charge pulley, changed out the all the spark plugs with one lower heat range and a tune to make it all work. I have changed out all the lights I could to LED's, added the sequential tail light harness and added hood struts. Last year we added new rims and tires, along with ground effects rockers. let me know if you want to talk.

Then had a 2014 Gt premium. now have a 2013 roush RT 570, that I improved upon, and makes just over 600 at the tires. Water meth, kooks headers, Gt intake cams, Oz tuned on 94 octane. Car enthusiasts actually drive their cars and build upon them.

The GT500 is not a bloody track car. It’s a straight line monster. The boss 302 and gt350 are the balanced purpose built track cars. Sounds like you just want one to park in the garage and sell 40 years later for profit. 9/10 shelby owners I know don’t even put one tank of gas through it in a year, and it’s still on the tires it left the dealership with. Just dumb. Takes the cars away from real enthusiasts, and keep them in the hands of investors

  • @gusorion8151

braydenpresber bro wtf are you smoking on? The reason I put worth is because a car is sought after. I didn’t mean to sell as a profit. I’ve had a 13’ 5.0 that I tracked and it was a fun track car after a few mods. What era are you mentally living in? This ain’t the 50’s 60’s 70’s where they just go fast in a straight line. A good driver can make good use with a 2012 Shelby (after a few internal mods). Is it competition ready? Fuck no, not even the boss was competition ready, the 350 was the first imo that can handle fast speeds in tracks. All I was saying is that why alter the look of the car, Shelby’s are perfectly awesome the way they come stock (looks of em).

These do come with the Tremec 6060, 6 speed transmissions. I did not shop for the Boss 302, as I was set on a supercharged car. I was looking at stage 3 Roush, Terminators, and Shelby's. The price vs the power, Shelby made the most sense to me. Autocross or road course = Boss 302. Straight line, supercharged power = Shelby. The boss makes 444 HP, the Shelby makes 550 HP. It really depends what you want to do with it. You really can't go wrong either way!

07-09 - 500 hp 2010 - 540 hp (same as 08-09 kr) 11-12 - 550 13-14 - 662 Minor correction you said 11 was 540 12 was 550. 07-12 all make the same power when modified the same the 10-12 just has a better factory intake and tune once you have intake and tune on both cars they make the same power. 11-12 also got electric power steering assist so that may free up few hp but they're essentially the same they make the same power with the same mods. 07-09 pick up a ton of power with intake and tune (80 hp) where the 10-12 only pick up 30-40 because their stock stuff was better. Potential is the same on all of them around 800 or so rwhp is considered the safeish limit. The 5.4 holds up as good possibly slightly better than the 5.8. Lot of misconceptions with these cars. In short if you're gonna mod it and swap the blower the 5.4 is the one to go with. Same results alot less money. Iron block cars are cheaper to replace the block and cheaper to build if you go built motor aluminum 5.8s are crazy expensive for little benefit. Nice car and nice video.

I can buy this exact car here in town for $46k. It only has 4k miles on it. Is it worth it?

That is very steep. A showroom quality with those miles would be closer to the 38k range

I considered it, but for an extra 10-12k I could make way more power than that extra 162 the 13-14s offered.
