I was at this event, as a photographer for Examiner. I also raced there 42 (gulp!) years ago. The dust was so bad at this 2012 event that one main event rider parked his bike near where I was shooting on the back straight, and he was totally blinded, and wandering all alone after the race, trying to clear his eyes so he could get back to the pits. After I dumped two bottles of water into his eyes, he got some vision back. The dust was absolutely horrible. I interviewed the track prep crew after the race, and the dust wasn't due to anything they did, or didn't do. The track owners wouldn't allow some of the usual mixtures the track prep guys use for flat-track racing, due to concerns about the horses who usually race on the track. That, plus the weather and humidity situation before the race, added-up to a lot of dust. It truly couldn't be helped, no matter what the crews did. The video itself was pretty good, though I wish they would have showed the entire semi that Nichole Mees won, since that was a very historic event. She rode great, and fought like hell for that win. And a side-note for those who think women racers have a weight advantage over the guys; ... many of the top male racers are on the small side, and some weigh even less than Nichole and Shayna Texter and other women racers. I've raced against women, even way back when female riders were even more rare than now, and being female makes absolutely no difference. Good riders are good riders, and that's that.

I really like this kind of racing. But, I don't have the time or money to travel. So, I'd like to be able to see it online with cameras on the bikes, in the grandstands, in the pits... Amazing how they can see with all the dust on the track.

Is it almost impossible to keep a dirt track dust free? Would lots of watering the days prior to the race have kept the dust down?

If you notice it looks like Mikey Martin isn't very comfortable/confident on his bike. He never brings his left arm down to the tank to go into full tuck. if he learned to do that he'd pick up a couple extra mph and might drop his lap times by as much as a second or two

Maybe I'm asking too much... but uploading the events IN ORDER would be better. This is a total mess right now... :-SSS Do you have the 2013 Daytona flat track races?? :-D

what is wrong that these guys can't let us watch the race.....can't hear a thing.....one of the main reasons to go to these is to hear the engines.....racing! cripes...all talk! nuts! where can we find the actual race sounds?

Having been out of commission for a while, I wonder why I never hear anyone mention Kenny Roberts. Every rider emulates his revolutionary style of riding road, but no one mentions the first American to win the world title in road. He used two strokes to flat track. What -- too old? How long have I been out? :-)

I noticed there was a woman running with the guys. Does a woman have a disadvantage of less strength or an advantage as being lighter in weight? Can a woman stay with the men in the mile?

the big thing is for women they tend to have an advantage thanks to being lighter. as they say every 7 pounds saved is a free horsepower.
