I'm keeping my R171 SLK350, at five years old it still looks and feels new, accelerates like a fat lass to the chip shop, and gives around 40mpg on a long run. Yes, that's right, 40mpg on a run and anywhere between 25 to 28 on an average urban run.

R171 best looking slk

Bought a 2012 SLK with 8000 miles on it two years ago! Great car beautiful and powerful!

I've owned 3 SLK's and none of them were "girly" if you can actually define that. All had more power than anything else in their class. I've owned R170 200 and 320 and currently own a R171 350 which a lot of people say looks far better than the latest offering.

I've been waiting for this type of car since my 1985 Toyota Celica GT-S. Rear wheel drive sport-tuned inexpensive and fun to drive

Well said. I own the R171 AMG 350. Great looking car and just a shade over 5 secs to 60. I owned the previous R170 230 too and loved it. Some of the motoring press manufactured that tag 'girls car'. Total bullshit

I honestly like the look of the back more than the front...and there's only a very few cars that I can say that about.

Question: This car has an Ontario license plate so I'm assuming you're in Canada. If so why are you miles per gallon instead of Litres per Kilometre and Zee instead of Zed?

Remember, the Ford Mustang was aimed squarely at secretaries when it was released in 1964. So I guess it qualifies as a girls car, too. Tell that to Carroll Shelby, Steve Saleen, and Mr. Rousch. My SLK55 AMG is a force to be reckoned with. If you see me on the street in my "girls car", you better look the other way, lest I embarrass you in front of your girlfriend. //AMG POWER!

I have a 2015 172. Yes, it is a girly car. And that girl is an Olympic Gold Medal winner in track. Don't need a jacked up pick-up to compensate for any "shortcomings".

Being an owner of an r170 I could easily use it all year round, but choose not to. I'd say go for it - that's the good thing about having a hardtop. Only thing is it's not a super car, unlike my 230 kompressor which is nice for what it is I'd say the 350 is definitely a true sports car now, not just a sporty car. So all in all it's what you feel it can do.

:47, if I was about to be run down by a car I wouldn't mind having 'that' emblem imprinted on my torso.

You know, for this day and age, if the masses think that VW's and Mercedes R170's are girly "chick cars", then that's what they really think in the real world. Seems silly to take offense to something just because the media points it out and it doesn't necessarily agree with you. That said, if a woman wants to purchase a R172, which THIS car is, then that's their prerogative - regardless of what the masses think.

I buy girly convertibles because I can always find a nice lady with more money than common sense who will happily pay me especially in the summer a greater amount of money than what I paid for it, while my daily driver is a very manly manual GT3!

Girls car, right... looks much like a Clk. And the front end. I do not understand why I am completely against the front end. But it just screams a better made American charger. With a rear end watered down to a Cadillac. love my r170 and r171 styles. I love the clean look/angle design and what's not to like opened Top. If maybe exterior aggressive angle designing and a stream lined or even a slim front grill air ram integrated. I like the long front ends. But still better than a bmw

People drving 1400 cc Fords that produced 90bhp were calling a car that produced 160bhp a girls car simply due to some parts of the motoring press? I agree, but not just against the current SLK 172. I own the previous model of the AMG SLK 350. I really don't like what they've done with the front of the car. The R171 looks way better.
