This game perfectly encapsulates the historic futility of Missouri basketball. Best team in MU history loses the league by multiple games to, at least on paper, one of Bill Self's weakest squads. That same MU team loses in the opening round of the NCAA tourney to Norfolk State, one of the biggest upsets of all time, while KU went on to the national title game. Hard to imagine a more fitting end to the series.

The fact that they were so good despite not having a big talent advantage over most opponents is one of the major reasons why.

Watched game 1 at the Flying Saucer. Incredible atmosphere.

So glad that I was able to attend this game! Even though I was 12 years old at the time, I still understood how important the game was! I was acting like I was one of the students the whole time! I still remember when we took a timeout when we were down by 17, I said that it was over... Boy was I wrong! What an amazing game! ROCK CHALK! Can't wait to become a student!

You weren't the only one thinking it was over. My mom had season tickets, and for some reason she couldn't make that game. She gave me those tickets and I'll never forget it. It was both the loudest and quietest I've ever heard Allen Fieldhouse. I think everyone in my section had lost hope. I kept yelling my lungs out, however, and those boys kept chipping away. When it got to T-Rob's and one at the end, I just kept saying to myself, "They gotta find a way to get three points here." And boom! It was all over. They had no hope in overtime. Spirit crushed, series dominated.

I listened to this game on the radio. My daughter was in a soccer tournament at the time so I couldn’t watch it live. I remember being tripped out by how insane the Phog sounded on the radio. By the end, I’m certain the fans had the most enjoyable, painful headache they’ve ever experienced. Some things just aren’t right, and I’m here to tell you, KU losing at home to freakin’ MU in their last conference meeting is not right. The universe would have been way the heck out of balance had both teams not woken up in time to realize who they were.

I was borne in Kansas City Mo but never could stand Mizzou simply because they always bad mouth their own conference and other teams. Say what you will about KU but they respect and support all the other teams in The Big12. Self and KU has really help built it to the powerhouse that it is today.

This is like Texas-Texas A&M, Duke-Maryland, Nebraska-Oklahoma, and a bunch of other classic rivalries that realignment ruined. Missouri-Ole Miss, Maryland-Minnesota and Nebraska-Northwestern just don't have the same ring to them.

More like MU gave KU this one..the refs didnt make MU brick shot after shot and the refs arent out there playing D..MU thought that had the game won when they were up 16 and they stopped playing...KU didnt

Funny when the losing team crys about the refs, when thier team just blew it. MU 11-29 on 3's. KU 9-19. MU shot 10 more 3's and only made 2 more than KU. And the fouls were MU 22- KU 16. So not that much of a favor. Difference was, Kansas went to the basket and drew contact, while MU settled for quick 3's. That's why the free throws are so much more. U get fouled more going to the rim, then coming down and shooting 3's. So the refs weren't bias at all. Just calling the game. Kansas style was just better. Great win, "Beware of the Phog". Rock-Chalk-JayHawk!

Missouri blew a 19 point lead by going 5 minutes without a basket..if they had scored during that time, it wouldn't have mattered if KU was shooting FT's. MU thought they had the game won when they were up 16 with 10 minutes and they quit playing while KU played desperate and aggressive. BTW, the refs weren't out there bricking shots for MU, their players were...class dismissed

the Robinson foul was questionable..but so was the "charge" that was called on him in Columbia with KU up late in the game. But the no call at the end of regulation was the correct call..Pressey jump right into Robinson trying to draw a foul. He appeared to be more focused on that than making the lay up
