Both are great cars, better than the rest in the competition. However, I choose the Honda Fit.

I'd go with the Honda fit. The Ford fiesta would be a great car if it didn't have so many transmission issues and reliability issues in general.

***** they were. and the fiesta st is 10 times more fun to drive than a honda fit. I would personally pick the fiesta any day over the honda for fun driving. the honda fit is more of a family car, I have 2 friends with a 2014 and 2015 honda fits and they don't even touch the fiesta st in driving experience.

Awesome review!!! U made the most thorough review I've ever seen, yet literally made it feel only ten minutes long. For the first time I really got a feel for the cars without driving it, I find that amazing! U guys are well spoken and yet don't put me to sleep like other reviewers. Hope to see more of your reviews in the following years.

Bought a black 2013 Fit Sport one month ago. Love it. Absolutely nothing bad nor disappointing about this car. Works well in the snow too (Montreal, QC, Canada, here... so we have it all) ...Awesome little beast. Get one! Call me old school but.... who really wants a Ford anyways?... ;) Nice video, guys, by the way!

All I have to say is I have put over 42,000 miles on my 2011 Ford Fiesta, I'm 6'3" tall, 300lbs, commute two hours a day, and LOVE throwing around in a hot hatch. It really does feel like you're driving a large car when you're on the highway and when you're downshifting going around corners it still has the magic. I certainly do not regret buying it, Not to say I would have been disappointed buying a Fit, but I prefer the European driving feel of the Fiesta.

Great video! I have a 2011 Mazda2 which is based on the same platform as the Fiesta but is definitely more sporty and has much better shifter. However the ride is more firm and it's more noisy over rough pavement, both of which can get annoying on longer trips. Also the Mazda's interior is much simpler and more basic, so it doesn't have weird looking buttons and dials all over the dash like the Fiesta or Fit. And it uses the same steering wheel as the Miata!

We use Honda Jazz and Ford Fiesta as learner cars. I find the Jazz definitely a lot more practical and it has far more space in the back, also for rear passengers. The Jazz engine is by far superior in build quality, just open the bonnet you can immediately see the difference. I'd also trust the Honda drive train more than the Jazz. However the trim in the Fiesta is better than in the Jazz (their plastics break easier and the floor carpet wears out much quicker). Rear passenger legroom in the Fiesta is terrible, but contrary to what has been stated below, driver seat and front passenger legroom in the Fiesta is certainly better than in the Jazz - I am 6'4" and have driven both cars for over 50k miles each. I find the Fiesta more fun to drive but the Jazz more practical and more reliable (except their cheaper plastic trims)

I just bought a Fiesta the other day. I had a 2009 Scion TC. I loved the TC. As a matter of fact it was my favorite car out of the 10 previous. I just have to say first that your video was the most informative I have seen on a comparative. That being said my new car (2012 fiesta) is now my personal favorite of all time. Driving wise, it is amazing. I'm in Chicago and travel around often. I haven't had it long but so far it's surprising me every time I drive it.

Quick notes; -Fiesta is getting getting the 1litre ecoboost. rated at 123/125 (max torque @ 1500rpm) -They stated the next fit will use a cvt, i am really hoping they keep the manual. -Real world mpg actually puts them pretty close, although that might change with the ecoboost. -While Fiesta has better materials, Fit dash looks less cheap imo, and better designed. I drive a 2012 focus, but would take a Fit over a Fiesta, mostly because of the magic seats, shifter, and reliability.

even with all the fiesta has to offer over the fit, the fit ... fit my needs better, the performance wasn't an issue after testing a '11 yaris (loud) and after comparing the costs of the other 5 doors. the fit is peppy enough to be fun to drive, the cargo space for the money meant that i could take my wife and 2 children (car seat and booster included) to the grocery store, with a full basket and leave comfortably at 30mpg. the fit truly is fucking GO; practical in every sense.

Why would you grab the roof handles while driving? hmmm.... I keep my hands on the wheel. Also your 0w-20 explanation (for warmer weather) is flat wrong. The 0w oil is thinner and therefore easier to start in very cold places.

Nice job guys! The more I see the Fit the more I wonder if it would've been a better choice over my '09 Civic. I live in an urban area & find my Civic is too big for parking spots & quick lane changes. I say to myself, "Well if I only had bought a Fit, I'd have parking by now"... instead I drive up & down the street hoping to find another spot. It's nice to see this comparison, everyone is so hyped w/the Hyundai-Kia onslaught. While the Rio SX is good looking, it hasn't won me over yet.

Also, I wonder if in the Fiesta, they changed the throttle mapping so that you don't get a lot of power until the end of the pedal travel. I wouldn't be surprised if the Fit has a lot of response loaded up early in the travel, in keeping with its sporty demeanor.

Great review. Really enjoyed your observations. I like the Fiesta and the Mazda 2 but today we bought a Jazz(fit) because of our height and it's space. We have a couple of growing kids so we really needed the space at the back. It's funny about perceptions and image. in England the Jazz is seen as a Biddy Bus but here in Thailand it's young and trendy. Who cares as it looks pretty good and makes great use of space. All the Best and look forward to your vids in the future.

SOHC stands for Single Overhead Camshaft. That means that there is only one camshaft per header. Inline engines will contain one camshaft. V-type and/or flat will contain 2 camshafts. For a SOHC engine there are usually 2 valves per cylinder but there can be more with the addition of cams for each valve. DOHC stands for Double Overhead Camshaft. Now there are 2 camshafts per header. So in an inline there are 2 camshafts because there is only one header, but there is 4 in a V-type or flat engine

I agree, the Fit's small 10.6 gallon tank limits my range to around 300 miles in town and 380 on the highway while the Fiesta can go 450 on the highway. Oh well, thats the price you pay for the amazing interior volume I guess!

Nice review guys. I considered all of the subcompacts in 2012 and ended up with what's probably considered the worst of the bunch, the 2012 Nissan Versa. So why did I buy it? Pretty simple really. It was by far the roomiest and most comfortable of the bunch, plus was the only subcompact I could get for under $15k with automatic trans, pwr windows/locks/mirrors, cruise control, and wheel covers that actually COVER the ugly steel wheels. It's boring, but satisfies me in all the right ways.

The Fiesta may have a cramped interior but my Fit sure doesn't. It has more cargo capacity vs the Versa sedan and hatchback plus the taller roof line makes for more headroom. The Versa has more legroom in the rear than the Fit by the numbers however, I've put 4 full size adults in my car and they are always quite surprised with how spacious the little thing is. In terms of overall cabin spaciousness the Fit is still best in class. Nissan does roughly 50% fleet sales of the Versa.

The Fit's I looked at just seemed tiny, the Versa is more like the size of a Corolla. Just an FYI, the Accent does NOT come with a spare tire, it comes with a can of Fix-A-Flat & a tire inflator which will come in real handy when your are out in the middle of nowhere & blow out a sidewall. LOL

Actually guys , your review was probably the most useful one I've seen .Real life usefulness is what auto manufacturers need to worry about .The days where a car maker could make money selling cars like the Hyundai Pony are long gone , gas is now 5 bucks a gallon in our neck of the woods . small comfortable , easy to own and upkeep cars is what it's all about . What they need to change is the timing belts to steel and make more of them all wheel drive , for us snow bound citizens .And Subaru's are just plain ugly and expensive . I think I'll check out the Ford Focus and would buy one immediately if they were all wheel drive . Good job boys .

I think where Ford may have cut corners is in the design of the vehicle (interior packaging and how the seats fold) Honda just pays more attention to details like how the engine looks and sounds. Ford has been doing that too but I think it just looks different bc we are soo used to Honda and how they do things.

People have traded in their aging Acura's and BMWs and Audi's for new Fits. I think the tradeoff is the cheap to run/own with very low maintenance factor.
