Thanks for taking the time to do this. I replaced the two low-beam bulbs in my friend's 2015 Honda Civic. At first I was perplexed at how to get access, but seeing the techniques here helped me. I was a little too eager at first and forgot the orientation of the bulb as it should be inserted. Had to struggle a bit until I found it. NOTE--the original bulb has compressed flanges so it's easier to take out and reinstall. The new bulb will be a little tighter, so it takes more force. Definitely important to make sure you rotate enough until the socket points directly downward. The local HONDA dealer wanted $240 for the job, plus $29 per bulb of the most basic Sylvania type. Bought the X-treme Vision version, a pair for $32. Installation took me all of 40 minutes (was purposefully slow, being extra careful).

My bulbs keep going out over and over AND OVER again. Got tire of buying new bulbs and installing, so I decided to buy the cheapest bulbs. So far so good.

@@WelkingVue What brand were you using? I would avoid any of those Chinese no-name or funky-name brands. Philips is a great brand, as I've used them numerous times on several vehicles.

The ones that keep burning out are Sylvania. I decided to go for cheaper bulbs, I'm not 100% sure, but I think the cheaper ones are the Basic Sylvania. Seems to last longer than the more expensive I haven't need to install any new bulb.

Great video! I watched a different one and for some reason the bulbs in the other civic had their wires swapped! The green cable housed his regular headlights and the white one was connected to his brights; I hastily concluded I had purchased the wrong bulbs so went and bought different ones before realizing I had swapped out my working brights for no reason.

The most difficult part is twisting and turning loose the bulb and putting the new one on. If you have problem doing that, try different hand position and fingers position. Space is so little, so a change of position with your hand might help.

The running theme in all these videos for the Civic seem to be "remove 3 parts to replace 1". Even oil changes are a bit of a pain because of the lack of working space. Oh well, thanks for the video!

Quick question! At 5:49 mark, I lost that little black piece that is used to screw in the windshield washer fluid thing. I used ducktape instead. Is that a bad idea and how do I get another one of those small black pieces and what are they called?

I'm not sure what it's call. It looks like a retainer clip, so probably call that. The auto part store usually has a variety of retainer clips.

I'm not sure which bulb you're talking about, but I think you might be referring to the high beam bulb. I haven't had the need to change any of the other headlight bulbs. Usually, I just take out the bulb and go get a match at the Auto Part store or at Wal-Mart.

I don't want to re-watch this video, so I'll just give you a general explanation. Usually when the bulbs are remove, they need to be turn counter-clock. Turning it counter-clock should break it loose. Next step, there's usually two or three tab or notch on the bulb. You need to align the tab to free it from it's location. Just look at it, use common sense, see what's preventing you from removing the bulb. Get back at me if you need help.

  • @WelkingVue

If you could fit your hand in you could probably finish the job you got to know how to position your hand. I had to do this over cause the cheap bulb I put in didn't last long. I think disconnecting the wire first might be a requirement, then remove the bulb second. You need to position your fingers in a specific way to easily disconnect the wires.
