All the the Gt3's and Gt3rs best cars ever
You gotta love the Sound!!! it's one of the best supercars Ever!!!!!
That engine noise! My god! Ferrari can eat s%#t! And just think Porsche have pulled around 500Hp out of naturally aspirated flat 6's!! Who does that? The rare 4.0 GT3 is just bonkers. Most powerful naturally aspirated 6 cylinder on the planet and revs to almost 10,000 RPMs.

YEP!!!!!!!!! that is astonishing. 500 HP on a naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat six wow.

@@jatkins47 your understanding not you’re hearing. The 4.0 made 50hp more than the conventional 3.8 RS

Got mine about 2 yrs ago as well. Love it. The 997 in this vid sounds mega :)
Even Randy Pobst can't help but smile when he drives the GT3 RS!
this is basically real racing 3 brought to life. that game literally starts with this car at this track!!

No doubt to that 😄😄
My dad had one of these in a 6 speed and he always said it was one of the most fun cars to drive he ever owned. And that’s out of an M3, a Z3, a C6 corvette, a regular GT3, a 911 Carrera S, a ‘67 Camaro, ‘67 Nova... All in all, he liked it a lot.
I was hoping to see this. This car sounds so beautiful!
such a beautiful sound
oh god what a sound...i love that naturally aspirated flat six sound at 8500 rpm!
Now this, this is a driver's car. Randy working hard, rev-matching, fighting the steering wheel. I want one.
Asking whether or not time and technology has made the GT3 look old is like asking whether nor not time and technology has made sedans look old. The GT3 still uses a lot of modern technology, its just a particular interpretation of a sports car that will also be desirable no matter how many automatic clutches Ferrari puts in the gearboxs.
WOW one of the best naturally aspirated street/race cars. And now Porsche is coming out with the 911 GT3 RSR. Can't wait.
Believe me, the new 991 - 911 has one of the best interiors i have ever seen, its pretty much perfect (and don't underestimate how much that means as it is something you appreciate every day even if just crawling along in town traffic). When someone buys a 911 or Ferrari they want the finish to match the performance. Of course speed is important but in reality these cars generally will spend only a fraction of their life at the track so there is more to their attraction than out and out speed
This driver is very skilled. Very crisp shifts and he can talk while man handling a car..wow!
EVO Magazine car of the year 2010 - that means a LOT!
I think Randy Probst is the best person to have review cars on KZread. They're honest and accurate. It seems like he's having an orgasm with every car he drives.
Thanks for all the summaries thegoof529 and 1johpo!
awesome car. great sound. only makes me wonder why the 4.0 was not out yet. it would have done much better lap time
One of my favorite cares, I love it.
A real man's transmission... Thank you Porsche for keeping it pure.
That engine sounds amazing and I love this car! But this video just goes to show how good the Corvette Z-06 is. Pobst did a lap in the Centennial edition in 1:34.43, about 2.3 seconds faster than the Porsche. Both pure engine performance. Have I just changed my dream car?!?
You can keep going on about refinement and quality, but the sheer fact is the LS block is the most heavily tested engine system in the world. It is a very old design that has been aged like fine wine and perfected with each go-around. It's the reason why a 640hp Corvette manages to put out more power, more torque, and yet with a standard manual can outclass anything in the European market for 1/2-1/4 the price. Not to mention the magno-shocks European cars are adopting. GM tech, son.
Wow, I now know why this has always been my dream car.
I can listen to that wail all day.
Thank you Porsche for the 6 speed manual. SAVE THE MANUALS!
God I love this car. Automotive perfection.
Yup, Porsche has been in the game as long as anyone, longer then most. It shows. I think the GT3 interior is perfect, and you can order it with extras if you want, because we are know Porsche is all about customization
Best looking porsche ever made ( 2018)
A true work of art...put in a car.
@rmcld The thing about this 911 is that it is just as modern as the GTR in terms of engineering and technology (if not more) but also manages to be a driver's car; RWD, manual, normally aspirated like you said. Anyone who thinks the GTR is better than pretty much any of the cars in this comparo is missing the point.
Such a masterpiece.
I love that car
I love that ZO6. I think it's a great allrounder, but I wouldn't change my dream car just yet. The Centennial Edition had very, very sticky tires on it. I mean we're talking on the verge of slicks. Don't know why Motortrend didn't fit all the cars with the same rubber, but the corvette was set apart in that respect. Those two are still great, RWD, manual, normally aspirated track cars though.
Next is the Porsche GT3 RS 4.0 can't wait to see what that car can do.
making the corkscrew look so easy. love that porsche
Love the sound on this car. It sounds and looks crazy fast!
who cares about the fucking time. this car has the most ORGASMIC SOUND. holy shit, actually incredible
@weed46 ok watever basically the same thing just laid out horizontally instead of vertically. at least i didn't say v6.
omfg! 4 seconds faster then the LFA? that's an eternity! One could only imagine what the 4.0 could do!
@bandude if you overlay the ls7 and the 458 dynographs you will see the ls7 makes more tq than the 458 from 2800rpm to redline. This makes the powerband feel very linear and means you can carry a higher gear on the track reducing tire wear when coming out of corners hot. While the 458 and the new gt3 (2014) make 125hp/l they both require that the driver keep them on boil to go fast.
@95CSL From the MT write up: "Production of the current-generation GT3 RS ends soon with a special edition equipped with a larger 4.0-liter engine that was not available at the time of this test."
as a gtr fan, porshes are nice too there engines are amazing and most of the time have badass handing
This over 10 GTR's! anyday.
When Randy blurts 'Race Car' near the beginning of the video, it pretty much sums it up. Only the 4.0 can better this car imo.
Fuck this was an experience to watch!
"Racing cars since it's Ferry beginning" I see what you did there, Motortrend.
There really is a certain way in which is proper to drive when driving a 911. Obviously, this guy is a great driver, but if he were driving in this way, the car wouldn't be "a little too tail happy on entry." Factory Porsche drivers know how to really get the best out of a rear-engined race car. It truly is that different.
By what possible measure? Check out the lap records at Laguna Seca. The Viper TA is #1, the Corvette ZR1 is #2, and the Viper ACR is #3. That's a pretty clean sweep.
Niiice. Loving these hot lap videos
Very good point. It would have been interesting to see what time it or the others would have set given the same sets of rubber.
Please MotorTrend, show more incar view angle with steering work, Best Motoring style, and bring back Randy's full comments after the lap.
dude tht guy is insane i hav seen many videos of his he jus drives crazy on laguna hats off...
YESS PORCHE IS FINALLY CHANGING THEIR 911!!!
Sweet ride Chase.
@SPMNDK89 Let me preface this by saying that the GT3 RS is my favorite car in the whole world but give the nissan gtr credit where its due. Porsche's 911 turbos s has all wheel drive, 530 hp, and can be had with a 7 speed duel clutch so essentially the same setup as a gtr yet at the ring it cant touch the gtr. It is a seriously impressive machine...but none of that matters to me because the numbers dont matter yet ironically its the numbers i fell in love with. Three of them infact...911.
@AccordGTR I agree, good point made
Funny how all these little "American car haters" Just Hate the Corvette z06 because it has perfected engineering of a true Race Car for the street. it's not only the tires guys it's also the engine the Drivetrain and the suspension that makes it go around the track quicker than all the other cars. common on now guys, there is a reason GM is number one in the world, it's not only its car sales, It's the quality of there cars.
the interior is straight out of the 90s, it is cheapy built to save money, not weight. New interiors on most cars are not only better but ligher. New screens are much lighter, new seats are lighter. The vette is fast, and if it floats your boat, that is awesome. Personally I think the car in this video is a better drivers car, hence the video
@mskz06 Not exactly. The Pilot Sport Cup ZP for the Z06 are more extreme. A quarter of the external wide (that is working during bend) had no tread at all. They are slick. The pilot sport cup + of the porsche are still semislick in all tires wide.
look the best lap of nurburging in a production car top ten list: 6:48 - Radical SR8 LM 6:55 - Radical SR8 7:11.57 - Gumpert Apollo Sport 7:12.13 - Dodge Viper ACR 7:14 - Porsche 918 Spyder 7:14.64 - Lexus LFA Nurburgring Package 7:14.89 - Donkervoort D8 RS 7:18 - Porsche 911 GT2 RS 7:18.1 - Donkervoort D8 RS 7:19.63 - Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 sorry
I won't disagree with you over the fact that Porsche is more refined, luxerious and sophisticated on the inside than any Chevy/Corvette. Porsche has to be my favorite European car brand and they make incredible automobiles. The point I was eluding was that the Corvette, despite its "basic interior" will still give cars twice to triple the price a run for their money in performance. To some, 'Vettes in general may be "better" than a Porsche. The new C7 is a huge improvement in materials, though..
@danthemanpatrick I think Randy was just making general coments about the car in comparison to the others. As for being a factory Porsche driver, Randy was in 2001. Very few Americans can land that ride. Porsche's first assignment for Randy was to campaign the Petersen Motorsports Porsche GT3-R at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Not only did Randy win the GT class but the team scored a second place finish overall. He definatly knows how to drive a Porsche.
Porsche needs to deliver all the schems of this car so that mankind in 300 years will be able to make this car !
goodness that car sounds proper!
GT 3 RS keeps it real and murders this track. A drivers car should NEVER be an auto. NEVER
You know its a good trackday car when a pro driver is too busy to drive to talk :P
The only reason 99% of people buy a Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini is for the bragging rights - to show off your wealth, and take it back to your mansion and put it under a sheet for the rest of its life....but the whole time the Corvette driver who scrimped and saved to buy the car is smiling to himself because he bought a car to enjoy and drive every day.
@joyfulvulture I do look at specs, I have a motor trend subscription. The Porsche has a power to weight ratio of 1:6.7 the nissan gtr is 1:7.2, The nissan uses summer tires while the porsche runs with Michelin pilot sport cups. The nissan has 4 seats while the porsche has 2 and a roll cage. My favorite sports cars are the viper acr, porsche gt2/3 rs and the corvette zr1. I do indeed keep myself informed on the specs.
Porsce is pure sound and wonderful performance!
"The Grip" "Is so incredible" lmao 1:36
That sound...Just listen.
hell yea cant wait to get it.
i love the sound!!!!
it sounds so good
as soon as the flat 6 began it's symphony, my eyes bulged and I covered my mouth and bit my knuckle like a little girl.... DO WANT!
probably going win best drivers car
The faces he makes pretty much explain the overall experience.
@blackseries99 you missed the point completely, i was trying to explain to you that powered does not always make the car faster, the lfa Nurburgring edition is not faster because of the 10hp its faster because of the downforce, revised suspension, track tires, and throttle control that 10hp has almost nothing to do with it. Also its more than 3 seconds slower than the 2012 zr1. Also to bring this into perspective the zr1 is ~1/3 the cost of the lfa.
I'm glad that the GT3 put those Boss fanboys in their place. This is what a real track worthy car looks like.
@ohw84me Z06 Centennial and 911 GT3 RS us the same tire (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup). Check the specs on the URL given.
This car is fantastic but the Cup tires are helping to get at least 1.5 sec over the other cars in this race track!!
@bigscootz47 at least i haven't read a "I would save 100K and buy a used civic and slap a k20 and turbo on it" comment yet. Seriously, these people need to stop hating and just appreciate the fine engineering going into these wonderful machines.
i think this is the all-around best car in the comparison
God that thing sounds brilliant. I always marvel at how much power Porsche can get out of a flat 6 engine design. Thumbs up to the Germans on this occasion.
@RTree613 they all look the same im just happy to see the new one
The way it tucks into those corners, I thought I heard a bedtime story.
@DocWolph This test is about drivers' cars, though, and reviewers tend to find the Charger's handling characteristics more agreeable than the Challenger's, even if the numbers are higher. That's why the GT3 RS isn't the automatic winner of this competition, even though it's the fastest we've seen so far. In this contest, which is not about numbers but about agreeableness, the Challenger would not really even be in the running, but that's not because of it lacking the raw pace necessary.
Gotta love that car for it's spirt & driver involvment...F all the times! So sick of talking about lap times. Every new year fan boys talk a gang of ish like they forgot about the yr prior when they were behind. No one is going to take this car & make a living off it's stock spec&lap time. So since that's the case it not more time, it's about the spirit & expirence of doing it, & cars like this,GT2RS, Z06 cont are becoming the new school muscle cars...a dying breed that demands RESPECT!
Really impressive , i've driven the plain gt3 at a track and it was great , i think with a pdk gear box it would be at least 1 sec maybe even 2 secs quicker in lap time ??
@blackseries99 the speed at which a car goes around the track and horsepower ratio are not linear. You could most likely put 90hp more in a lfa and still not be as fast as the zr1 especially considering the track is not massive like the nurburgring
@ricksmiths10 You're correct. 5 seconds around this track is an eternity.
5 seconds better than the LFA, and half the bost. Way to go Porsche!
458 italia : 1:36:22 GT3 RS : 1:36:77 Same time, half of 458 price, racing spirit... I'll take the Porsche everyday.
@TheNumber2Pencil546 "Stig" would likely be slower around here, because of years of racing Randy has done on Laguna Seca. Also, typically doctors and engineers drive Porsches.
@CJAEY I second that. Do you think Porsche is going to slowly move the engine further forward each model year, until the Cayman becomes the 911?
