2011 MazdaSpeed 3 Door Lock Actuator Replacement

• DOOR PANEL REMOVAL! watch this video to see how to remove the door panel. The driver side door is slightly different during replacement, there is one more rod connected to the actuator that can be accessed through the side of the door. There is a rubber circle that you can remove to access it with a hook tool to remove that rod. I’ll be editing this later with a more in depth description since the video doesn’t show much.

Thank you! The disclaimer at the end…that’s where I’m at, figuring out how to get the stripped screw out 😅 Otherwise, so happy to find an MS3 video ❤

Thanks so much for this video! We've had the "passenger door ajar" light issue on our 2010 Mazda 3 for a while now, and I'm just getting around to addressing it because it causes a battery drain that wasn't a problem until COVID (when I don't use the car as frequently)! I just wanted to confirm that you were able to order the OEM Mazda part, which I believe is BCS4-58-310E? A lot of retailers are showing this part as discontinued. Cheers!

On my 2010 Mazda 3 Sedan there is a second rod attached to a second lever on the actuator. The actuator will not come out unless you remove the second rod. It's easier to do if you remove the cover plate near the top of the door on the inside (1X10mm nut) accessed through a hole after you remove the black rubber cover. I don't know what this second lever does but obviously has to be refitted into the new unit. Took a while to figure out but once you figure out how to get it out, putting it back is easier.

L R I ordered both of them from eBay, it was usually cheaper there than the other places I found it. I just used another site to check part numbers, the driver side and passenger side use different actuators if you didn’t already know, driver side is just a tad more difficult. Not by much though

If my Mazda has manual lock, could I install an actuator that has power lock and have it work?

Hey quick question, does anyone know the size of the Philips head screws that hold the Actuator in place? misplaced my spares a whiles back and the other doors are done up tight.

In general its the drivers door that has the most problems due to constant use.

Hey, been trying this today on mine.. same as everyone else getting the door ajar issue or alarm going off when locked etc. Got all the way to the point of trying to remove the handle rod, for some reason I cannot push the tab down far enough to remove the rod - the 3 screws in end of the door are out, but it almost feels like it's connected to something else. Is it just this rod (and the other 2 internal rods to internal handle etc) holding this? Also seems to be some anti tamper metal plates there, I assume to make it so you cannot break in / pull the rods from outside the door.

Hi John, Does this also fix the issue where it says the passenger door is open when it's not. Just wanted to make sure since this is replacing the lock actuator which I don't know is separate from a sort of door sensor that the car might have. Thank you!

  • @bobsoft

In the door lock actuator there is a circuit that monitors if the door is open or closed. Replacing the door lock actuator will fix this issue.

Why did you replace this item? The same door in my MS3 will set off the alarm or give door open signal while driving.

Peter Obrecht I replaced it for those exact reasons. It’s a common issue with MS3s and normal 3s from around that time, mine was doing the same thing and this stopped it. Ended up being both my front doors but your display will tell you which one it is.
