Right after watching this video I drove to Boston and purchased this car. It now lives in Staten Island NY
When I was a teen, my dad and I went to go look at the new models at a Ferrari dealership while on vacation. A brand representative, knowing full well we had no real intent (or means) to make a purchase, let me start up the white 458 Spider on the second floor. It was such a small occasion, and a commonplace one for those who have the access, but the memory still remains vivid 10 years on. Glad to see 458 has only gotten better with age.

Not entirely true, $25k down, 740 credit score, 12 year finance. It's very possible on 125k-140k a year. Two people working, even more possible. I've seen my wife alone make $3350 in one week as a nurse, multiple weeks at a time. I my self drive Semis so I see $2,000 a week, it's definitely possible if we really want to piss away $3,000 a month before insurance. Invest everything you can in the S&P 500 and let those 10% yearly gains compound. Year 10, 1 million in and that's 10% hits 1.1 million. You can withdraw the 100k for life, take a 22% capital gain hit on the 100k each year, and use the dividends to pay the taxes honestly. I'd rather be financially free by 35, versus having 1 Ferrari. If you want to suffice the itch, rent one 3-4 times a year for $1800 a day and save thousands. It's the best way to have your cake and eat it to. Ferraris realistically should only be driven about 2,500-5,000 miles per year anyways. 80% of the time that cars parked if you financed.

This came out 2009, but if it was released today, I don’t think anybody would be mad. The design aged beautifully. That naturally aspirated v8 with the 9000rpm redline is a gem.
The design is so modern, looks on par with contemporaries from 10 years later. Like you mentioned not 2 minutes in to the video. This is a great design, and a great car. And a great video bringing it all together.

I feel like it's a golden era for supercars. 997 GT3, this the very last Murcis and Gallardos... Everything that came out since then has either been "too much" (too powerful etc) or too numb. It's just McLaren which peaked a few years later with the 675LT, and Porsche who's still going very strong.
The sound!!! Holy shit. 10 years on and it's still IT. Why bother with the new ones?!??! This was the 458 POV video I needed in my life. I need a trust fund, ugh.
This is my favorite Ferrari ever. Gorgeous looks, high-revving naturally aspirated V8 with enough power to enjoy without killing yourself, paired to a great DCT gearbox. And that sound. Oh my

12:01 that is such a great point. I feel like in the search of "perfection" and 0-60s, the modern supercar is slowly losing its soul.
The 458 Speciale is my dream modern Ferrari sports car, a quick and smooth DCT with a high revving NA V8.
Someone is having loads of car fun these days. Thanks for sharing. and You're right, this Ferrari is beautiful and sounds great.
The 458 has aged incredibly gracefully. By no means the car looks like 2009. And the noise it makes is just biblical!
Aside from the navigation software, this car hasn't aged a day since it came out 15 years ago. Both the exterior and the interior look completely modern, even better than modern. It's timeless.
Immediately looks up Ferrari 458 for sale 😂. That engine sounds so good to this day!
The high watermark for Ferrari V8- the 458 and 458 Speciale. God bless natural aspiration.
Probably the best engine sound ever.
458 is a legend, and IMO the best modern Ferrari you can buy.
Probably the most beautiful modern supercar ever made. An instant classic.
Was working for Ferrari when these were debuted. There were days when I got to drive 8 of these lol
The most Ferrari looking Ferrari ever especially that front end and the headlights 😅😊
Last V8 NA.....Meraviglioso.........Greatings from Italy, great video.....
I would still have this over their latest and more powerful models. That sound is the best. Great gearbox, and more than powerful enough.
Such a cool sound. It's nice to see that you're getting to review cars such as these.
Still remember the day I saw this thing for the first time. It was one of those generational cars that grabbed your attention like no other, a special one, loved by all and will always be remembered for how close to perfect it was. I'd say this is the greatest ferrari ever, the complete package!
When I first saw the 458 on the front of Forza I was in love and that sound!!!!

One of the best car Ferrari ever made. Future classic. Incredible.
The 458 is the ultimate dream car for me. No, it doesn't have the screaming Lamborghini v12. No, it isn't as fast as a stock c8 Corvette to 60. What it does have though is unarguable, incredible beauty. An NA v8 that sings to you with every rev and redline. A gearbox that allows you to be the musician in a high pitched, violent, screaming orchestra as you delicately work your way through the gears. A design that is so timeless, it will look good from every angle, every time, forever. This car is the ultimate v8 supercar, and for me, it always will be

This is my dream car, you’re so lucky to have had the chance to enjoy this beautiful car.
One of the most beautiful cars ever made and one of the best car sounds ever😍😍
I'm absolutely in love with the video and the car, you sparked my love for the 458 again after many years of being kinda bored of it. The condition on the video seems insane, such a beauty and possibly a dream spec for a more daily chill car instead a weekend/track toy (in that case I'd prefer the alcantara racing seats). Thank you so much for the video, loved every single second of it.
Amazing how modern and beautiful this thing still looks 10 years later
the 458’s will always keep their value. don’t get me wrong, cars like the taycan and gemera are great cars, but the tech and styling will age them. the 458 will look and feel great for a long while
I was fortunate to drive one of these on the streets of Maranello. At the time, the 430 Scuderia blew me away, but the 458 was so smooth and refined in comparison. Two very different cars but wonderful in their own way. I’ll never forget driving either of them.

The Ferrari I'd want to own and drive every day would be a manual F430. The last gated manual Ferrari, mid engine, modern tech without super intrusive systems. But I'm just a simple man who wants to row his own gears. Objectively, I think the 458 is the best mid-engine Ferrari of all time (besides their limited run cars like Enzo, LaFerrari etc). Prettier than what came before and after, a piece of art. That engine is what makes these cars, the fact that you have to wind it out and just ring it by it's neck to get the most of it, while being rewarded by the best V8 sound of all time... It's just something you don't get in modern Ferraris. And the torque isn't so stupidly high that you'll breath on the throttle and have it step out from under you like the Turbo cars. You have to be delibrate to get that power, it's not just there when you don't expect it. You work for it, and it works for you. I've driven one of these on track, just 3 laps, but it was the second most confidence inspiring vehicle I've ever driven on track (1st was 911 991 GT3). Both high revving, NA cars, which I don't think is coincidence. Instant torque at 2000RPM that modern turbo cars have is great for racing light to light, but I don't think it's more fun. Unlike the GT3, the 458 inspires passion at any speed. It just feels special, at 200MPH or at idle, race track or parking lot. I used to think Ferrari was a brand for people to just show off, to LOOK like they loved cars. Driving this car is what changed that opinion. Exquisite automobile. (Incidentally, I drove a Gallardo the same day and it wasn't anywhere close to as fun and nimble as this)

@@thundorkat What V8 sounds better? I've heard a F430 with headers and an exhaust, and from 6000-9000 RPM, the thing screamed like an F1 car. Truly incredible sounding cars stock, but with a few mods, these things can throw down with even V10 and V12s. CHeck this, different car than the one I rode in (and videos will never do it justice), but still does a great job at making my point. Thing could give an LFA or Carrera GT a run for it's money, and I don't say that lightly kzread.info/dash/bejne/X21lq6tqlcqqqNY.html

The only modern supercars/super sportscars that remind me of how supercars like the 458 were are the Huracán EVO RWD, 992 GT3, or a C7 Corvette Grand Sport. Lightweight, not too powerful, and amazing performance without too much compromise.
the exit 45B at 5:25 is such a nice touch
I had a chance to rent one of these outside of Maranello for 20 minutes, while the hairy-chested Italian man next to me kept taunting me to go faster. Top 5 moments in my life. The sound...my god the sound.

What a car and what a video! Drove a 458 on a track day and I was amazing how easy it was to drive around at normal speeds (to get on track and off track). Yet the performance and drama of that engine is amazing! Totally agree on the looks too, 10 years old that car still looks modern. My dream super car for sure, maybe not in red though! Would draw too much attention for me.
I’m so glad you’re doing a review on this.

You make excellent points, ones I've been saying as well myself. We sold our GTR last year and picked up a 2020 Lotus Evora when looking for a new high performance car, just for these very reasons ...you can actually enjoy sub 600 HP cars and in our case a 400 ish HP Lotus, where as the 700hp and higher cars we test drove, were essentially useless on public roads. The gearbox in the 718 manual we drove was useless as well, as you're in getting arrested territory in 2nd gear...like you said, what are you supposed to do with that? If I was going to pick any Ferrari, I'd take a 458 too.
