Was there a follow up on this video? It's been a year now, did the codes return? Which side of the trans was this ground strap at? Did you remove a cover or was it already visable? Sorry for all the questions but it will help us out.

A bad ground wire can certainly wreak havoc on those modules. Great info Mike, hopefully it was just a loose bolt!

I think you did the right procedure. Then if the codes come back, try plan B with the shorter bolt. Never worked on a volt. Those were some strange code numbers.

Hi Mike. Eventually you will be the go to guy on these volts. Nice to see that your still in the video business. Was thinking of your channel the other day. Mike don’t break that bolt off. Thanks for sharing and stay well and safe. Artie 😊🇺🇸 Mike what scanner are you using? Looks like the think pad diag like Ivan uses?

Hello Mike, Have you experienced any swerving issues? I have a chevy 2014 volt and lately when I let off the peddle, the car would swerve right and sometimes left. I thought it was the alignment and had the dealer center everything and still does the same. Hoping it is some type of sensor.

Why go under the car when access to the plume is better from the top. Simply remove the engine cover and the bolt is at your fingertips.

Google is your friend here---- Control modules constantly monitor the vehicle for any condition which may adversely affect vehicle performance. If a condition is detected, the module sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and sends a serial data message to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM sets a DTC to inform that the module has set a DTC. The serial data message sent by the module also contains a request for the ECM to illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). The DTC will be set when the ECM receives a serial data message from the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module indicating that DTC has been set in the module.
