JL, so happy that I found your video. This has been driving me crazy. I have a 2016 Optima. Sound is very similar only clicking is at a higher frequency (maybe 2-3 times faster). Occurs intermittently, not necessarily while in recirc mode. When I first heard it I thought a fan or other rotating part was rubbing against glove box door. Have been putting off addressing it because someone told me entire dash would have to be removed. Going to drop glove box and see if I can isolate the problem. Hopefully this is the answer to my problem.

How to remove the actuator my 2013 Kia Sportage??? But mine is bottom side driver ??? But there’s a small steel pipe blocking one of the screw ???

Did you have to remove the glove box or crash pad to get it out, or were you able to squeeze your hands between the big cross member bracket to get to it ?

an experienced tech should be able to do this job in 1hr(at the dealer) more generalized shop will be a little longer. AllData times are at 1 hour. thanks for watching

Mine is making a static/scratching noise underneath my dashboard. Only when I turn the key to the on position without starting it. It’s driving me insane because I literally have no idea what it is

i would be looking at something else in you case. I am not there but if you do not have dual climate control there should be no difference in air temperature, if there is I would be looking at the heater core. personal opinion.

We have had our 2016 sportage for 5 years and every year the dealership has had to replace this part because if this problem. 5 TIMES IN 5 YEARS!! What the hell!!

I would think that the fresh air trap might be binding.

@@JLsAutoSolution well I'm tired of taking it in every 8 months to get it fixed and now it's out of warranty anyways. I could fight it because it's had to be fixed so many times in a short period of time but I'm over it. What if I just unplugged it? I don't care if it stays stuck in the closed position. I never use the outside air function anyway. If I just unplug it and leave would I get an error light or should it be fine?

Mine makes this sound in glovebox randomly for several seconds when driving. It started happening only when I turned on air recirculation button. It would happen for several seconds then stop. Why would it happen randomly now whether the air recirculation button is on or off? Thank so much you for your help. Would the fix be the same? Do you think an average non-mechanic such as me replace it?

Depending on the need of the vehicles ventilation system the recirculation door can be actived at any time.

I have a problem when i turn on the heater it blows hot air on driver side but cold air on passenger side but the ticking is comming from driver side if not mistaken ( I have a kia sportage 2011 with no dual climate control ) So my question is there another actuator on the driver side or is there only one on the passenger side. Thank you

yes it would.. if the temp door actuator is stuck or inoperative the cooling efficiency could be poor

i know that kia uses different part numbers, but sometimes the parts are the exact same.. wish i could say yes, but the truth is i have never had to change one.. thanks for watching and sorry i could not be more helpful in the answering the question.
