@@hurstysgarage not quite yet but I’m buying a maxima tomorrow and this helped me get an idea. I think I’m going to install an Apple CarPlay as the radio, and for the ugly orange box, I am going to trim some plastic mirror or something of that sort and cover the ugly ness up. I will leave a little at the bottom so you can still see the climate control, but cover up the glitchy orange mess.

Ok, I'm thinking that maybe when you went to go plugged back in the AC wire connector, it shorted out the fuse... I would try that first before I do anything else. And of course make sure that the battery is disconnected when you do those operations. And then if it's not that, try to unplug and make sure that the connections are free of dust and dirt and everything and then try to replug. Hopefully we don't need to go any farther than that, but let me know if that works:-)

  • @hurstysgarage

My first thought Uncpaw is that your ground connection is not very good (black wire). Check the radio harness connection for ground wire and make sure it is mated properly, and then make sure ground connection at physical battery is good (secure connection/tightened, not corroded). Hope this helps, cause it sounds like radio loses actual battery power everytime it is turned off, which in turn would reset clock back to factory setting of 12.

I make sure that they are all properly mated together and are not touching their "neighbor"/bare metal so as not to create the short. Next, I go through each wire again and make sure that wire is correctly mated with the correct wire it is supposed to be joined together with from the source I purchased from/video I'm watching/forums/etc. Keep in mind to that you do not want to be connecting wires while negative side of battery terminal is hooked up. Hey M J...yes, it says you can stream your audio (music) with Bluetooth...I did not get a chance to do that (or my daughter), because the car was TOTALLED a few days after install and we couldn't get radio back:-(

Yeah Avory...it definitely is a personal choice that has its goods with its bads...not for everyone! Would I do it again, or should I say, leave it in there permanently...probably not. So if you try it...save your factory set up just in case you want to transition back;-)
