    Dude, I’ve been trying to find a useful serpentine belt replacement guide for my 2012 touring for hours now, and your guide’s been the only one I’ve found that actually matches my engine model. An excellent firsthand guide, to boot - thank you, man!

    Anyone looking for the alternator torque specs here they are. 8.5 - 11.5mm of belt deflection with 98N force applied, re-check belt tension after running for 10 minutes (10mins and the belt shouldnt twist more than a quarter turn with a firm grip - As you can tell by the change in lighting between belt 1 and belt 2 you should definitely 1000% start with the idea of taking the passenger wheel off and jacking the car up to begin with. Haha cheers bud great video this will be the same process on the 2007-2010 Elantra sedans as well.

    Heya! Just wanted to say this video was super helpful! My belt melted off this morning and filled my cabin with nice rubber smell. I had a spare belt in my car already and was able to loosen the alternator with that bottom bolt that had no idea existed. I probably would’ve broken something if I didn’t know about that bottom bolt. Car is back and running again. Have a good Thanksgiving weekend from Canada.

    Hey Bud, great video! This is the exact job I need to do on my wife's 2010 Hyundai Elantra. One of the belts is squawking badly, especially on startup, but both belts seem to have proper tension. I'm suspecting a seizing bearing on one of the rotating components, perhaps the idler/tensioner pulley? I won't know until I take the belts off and try spinning them. Thanks for the tips!

    Push the alternator towards the cab to loosen the belt, or pull back towards the front bumper to tighten then adjust with the tensioner bolt. The single, most important thing that was not mentioned was the amount of tension on the belt. I would watch videos that explain the proper tension on these belts.

  • @BloodshedRomance

    @BloodshedRomance

    3 жыл бұрын

    There isn't a serpentine. Just the v belts. And yes. To get to the inner one you have to remove the outer one. The alternator acts as the belt tensioner for the outer belt, the tensioner under the car is the one for the inner belt.

    Car was at like 70 or 80k or so I think. It was since in a wreck and totaled so I couldn't tell you for sure. One started squealing a bit which means it was slipping and since I bought the car used I figured I'd just change it when I found it was two V belts. There isn't a whole lot of sense in doing just one when you're right at the other one.
