Very helpful thank you I'm trying to help a friend with the same car I wanted to know how to get to the battery. One thing I would like to point out whenever replacing a battery always undo the negative First then the positive that way the likelihood of arcing is minimized. I only say that because I have seen a battery explode once due to a spark. When hooking it back up hook the positive up first then the negative for the same reason.

@@BillOfAllTrades2016 So when I went to help my friend, I didn't realize that there is a special spot between the battery and firewall, under that red cap there, to hook up the positive from a jump box and a spot marked ground on the strut tower. No need to remove anything to jump the battery which is kind of cool. I did use your info to double check the terminals on the battery were tight and clean.

What a design, GM obviously went to painstaking events to make sure that the average DIY would be intimidated so as to not change the battery himself but take it to the dealer.

Ya they definitely worked hard to make life difficult but we can always find a way to still do it. Remember humans assembled the car so us humans can also disassemble it. I’m glad you found the video. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

You dont have to do all that to charge. You take off that red cap in the background and hook your positive to that and there is a ground bolt a little farther back to hook the negative too. Same if you're jump starting it

At 00:53 leave the computer attached to that black tray. Remove that 10mm bolt and the entire computer (and tray) just slides out and away.

I replaced the battery but I can’t get the bracket that holds the battery down to back how it was. The auto shop says the battery fits my car but it seems too tall. Is that possible?

Yes it’s very possible that it is too tall. However I have to ask do you have the battery in the tray properly? It may look like it’s in place but if it’s sitting on the edge of the tray then it could be as simply as wiggling it into place to fix the issue. With my previous vehicle I had that happen where the battery width made it hard to place evenly and flat it the tray. When replacing a battery it’s important to measure the old battery and transfer those measurements to the new one before purchase. Did the place you bought the battery from guarantee the fit to your vehicle? If so you can have them exchange it for a proper one on their dime. Things need to fit perfect in modern vehicles with very little forgiveness especially with the ecu sitting ontop. Hope this helps. And hope you are able to sort this out. ALWAYS TAKE NEGATIVE OFF FIRST, AND PUT IT ON LAST. You have any metal wrenches, screws or bolts touching anything metal in the engine bay and it could spark, arch or even melt wires.. Be careful
