+Jonathan Gomez Well, considering how well she has done with just two albums, I'd say she has done very well in the music business. Having two songs in the top 5 of the charts with one at number one and having album of the year more than once. 9 Grammys, golden globe, etc. She is the best artist of the 21st century. Plus, she has another album coming out this year. Rumour has it (no pun intended) it's late August/September time.

She has written some good songs no doubt, but saying only because she won awards and had songs in the billboards makes her the best?????? See, this is whats wrong with pop culture nowadays. Everyone thinks that because you win awards and all theses material things you are somehow really great. In all honesty if the Grammy's were "serious" awards 90% of these so call artist that attend the ceremony wouldn't even get invited or nominated. There are artist all over the world that are a million time more talented than these stupid pop stars (Adele not included) but they never get the attention they deserve, because the music industry just wants to sell what will make them rich. These award have always been a big business, they have always favor pop music over anything. But getting back to Adele, yes I love her she is one of the last few artist with originality left in the "mainstream" world. The last great artist I heard was Amy Winehouse. But Adele still hasn't created something that has gotten a generation's attention. Like The Beatles, Stones, The Doors etc.. in the 60's. Or Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc in the 70s. And the list goes on through the decades of the 80's and 90's.

Errrrm. I'm not basing that info that she is the best artist of the 21st century off of awards. It's my opinion and thousands of others. The fact she has sold millions and won tons of awards is just some sort of evidence that she is a good artist.

Norah Jones has had three #1 albums and has sold over 50 million records worldwide. She definitely deserved that Grammy for Best New Artist.

She's so humble, chewing gum while winning a grammy. Look how far she's come. Today's the day she announced her new single "Easy on me" and broke the internet. She keeps down to earth. A real queen.

What I love is the fact that you can see people not standing. They didn't take the grammy serious and she made a success of her talent. I guess they can keep sitting, but Adele will still rise to the top. Rock on!

standing ovation was a rare occurrence on award shows, movies and music alike (unless reserved for very special moments) early 2010s was when it became common (every winner gets standing ovation nowadays)

Adele is an example, u dont need a sexy body, dancing, .... u only need talent that make people remember u, and u will be on top of the world !!! ( sr my English )

Oh, but visuals are important - not everything - but don't underestimate looks. Adele has slimmed down A LOT since she started. Her voice (and the choice of material she sings) has only gotten better. No doubt Adele has talent but she had to work on the 'presentation'.

I think it is because of her duet with Teddy Pendergrass, "Hold Me," which was released in 1984, while her debut album was released in 1985. This is probably why she did not win the award. Nevertheless, she is still doing better than the nominees and the winners at that time.

Nah. Duffy went missing since 2010 and she's the victim of kidnapping and sexual assault few years ago

I remember this moment,and I was so happy she won. At this time she wasn't as well known,but I had a feeling she would take it,because I felt she was the most talented of the group,but who knows with the Grammys sometimes. I had no clue she would become so successful and dominate the Grammys by her next record.19 is still my favorite record from her though.

For everyone mentioning it the Jonas Brothers thing is actually because she's a big fan. Right before the Grammys I remember she gave an interview and she said she wanted them to win and was really excited about even getting to meet them, marry them, have babies when they were older haha. She had a big crush and had said in a magazine interview that if she ever saw them they wouldn't be wearing their purity rings and would have their way with them LOL. And that was pretty well known back in these days because the media headlined it as 'Adele thinks the Jonas Brothers aren't really virgins' or something like that (my main fangirl days were the Miley, Jonas, rising Katy Adele and Gaga years so I remember too well). Later she said she was so shocked, she was sure they'd win lol. But yeah, that's why she made that face. Just thought I'd leave my useless knowledge of this people here for anyone who cares lol.

You can see that just few audience that standing up for adele in grammy2009 ....... But the grammy2017 u can see that everyone standing up for her !! It just amazing !!

Adele is my favorite artist today. And she can actually sing and does not take herself too seriously. I quite like that. Whitney Houston is the best voice of my generation. She had the looks and talent. And she sold a lot of albums/singles (more than Mariah Real Romero, but who cares). She set the bar very high. Adele is the one to carry on the mantle passed down from Billie and Etta and Aretha and so many. I am a fan of Whitney...but I root for Adele. Her music brings JOY.
