I was looking over my scheduled maintenance and realized the last time I took my Avant to Audi it was essentially a $425 glorified oil change. I’m approaching 70k and realize spark plugs will be next. Figure I can do the oil and plugs on my own next time - thanks to your video!!!

I did mine and didnt have to unscrew the wire harness. This comes apart from the middle and then pry up the coil by hand. Once done you put the harness plastic back carefully placing the wires as they were when you pulled it apart.

Even though they come pre set on gap always check them and carefully you can adjust the gap never trust others. Also with the dissimilar metals of spark plug base and aluminum cylinder head a dab of anti seize on threads is highly recommended for removal later.

A decent video however I would add a few things. Its no big deal to unplug the injectors and doing so will give you more room to move the harness away. Also I've watch a couple videos on this and every single one makes it look easy to pull the ignition coils out. It wasn't easy on my 13 A5 with 75 k, it was truly a PIA. They were so stuck you would have thought someone glued them in. I had to use generous amounts of silicon spray along with lifting, twisting, and spraying some more to finally get them loose. The last time the plugs were replaced was at the dealer at 35K. I used a little bit of die electric grease with a Q tip along the boot were the plug connects and some along the rubber part at top of the ignition coil. Should be mush easier next time!

Ignore this guy .. when changing spark plugs get off your ass and actually LOOK up the gap on the new plugs and then verify it carefully with a feeler gauge. Do not "eyeball" is as he mentioned and yes they are supposed to be pre gapped but then again shit happens they can be gapped if done carefully. iridium tips are very brittle you have to check the gap with a feeler gauge not one of them old fashioned round ones where you spin it clockwise and it forces the gap to the desired amount this tool will snap off your tip.

Also for the luv of GOD dont use a fricking air ratchet putting them in or out this guy is clearly not a professional with half a brain .. this guy must make a ton of extra cash fixing stuff like cross threaded spark plug holes etc.. he probably just replaces the entire engine then fixes the core ?
