2009-2014 Ford F-150 Door Easy Fix!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is a cheap easy fix for a door ajar warning in a Ford F-150 pickup truck. Gets real old real quick with the dome light turning on then off intermittently Save a lot of time and money and check this out before taking your truck to a shop. To my knowledge this is related to 2011-2014 crew cab model F150 trucks. My truck is a 2013, but any year around this could have the same issue.
Hope this helps, ENJOY!!

Thank you so much!!!! Opened everything up just like you said, and boom! There's two broken wires. You saved me so much headache!
2013 f150 platinum. You saved me a bunch. Passenger rear door same problem. Ended up fixing five wires. Thank you.
I've googled this many times looking for a straight forward solution, this worked perfectly in my 2010 XLT. Thank you!!!
I had the same problem with my 2014 F150 with 4 wires broken. Mechanic wanted $300 for the door actuator not including labour. You saved me a lot of money with a simple fix. Thanks!
Excellent job. To the point, on target and just what most of us are looking for.
Just fixed my 2013 f150 left rear door. I ended up soldering about 1" of new onto the old wires . Most of my wires were broken in the center. I ended up slicing the bottom center of the boot lengthwise to access and fix it. Retaped it afted. Not the best , but better than nothing. I believe the fact that the left rear is used much more than the right , is why it's usually the left side that goes bad. I have a dog who rides in the back seat and so I open the left rear daily. Thank you for this video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! ive been un plugging my battery everyday for a week because my dome lights would not turn off

Your dome light didn't time out after a bit? I'm having this same rear door ajar issue. My dome light times out though.
Great video. I have a 2014 with 222K miles on it. Its been an awesome truck but my rear speakers and left rear door ajar wires seem to be broken. Its absolutely aggravating. If I use my power locks, the alarm system will start going off when I get 100yds from the truck. Looking forward to having sound and door locks again after this repair.
Going to try this. I believe this is the likely issue. Good explanation ... Video goes right to the point without wasted time!! Thanks for that. One issue - wind noise is really bad.
Thank you. Looks like that's what my problem is.
Thanks. I had the same issue with my 2012 Ford F150
Thank you, it was spot on
Great video. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber here
Thanks I'll try that. I have 2013 f150 with a door ajar on for over a year. Ford service told me to spray lock.
I had the same issue a year or so back now. However there was another thing that may or may NOT be something that added to the failure. And that is The SOLID ROUND STOCK(stiffener) that ALL the wires are secured to pinching and aiding in wires getting sheared off. I had 5-6 wires split/cut when I finally found the problem and if they weren’t completely cut, there were hanging in by a thread. I patched in and soldered it all back together. It was time consuming but I was happy to not take it to the dealer/shop. To be honest I want to say before I had the “door ajar” issue and everything that comes w it. I recall realizing that that door’s speaker hadn’t been working for some time and only taking a small amount of time to dig into it (pulling inside door panel) ……I found nothing. Kinda wrote it off as the stock speaker was shot. Problem solved as everything worked like it was suppose to. Again, repaired wiring & pulled the solid core round stock from door jamb & Soldiering wires back To my frustration- trying to lock truck or drive while Dome Light not shutting off and the infotainment notification of door ajar grew into quite a soar spot of conversation. FFWD approx 1 year later- my rear passenger door lock doesn’t function when locking the doors by way of Electrical. Manuel operation is fine and doesn’t feel any kind of way. In short- I think I’ll be getting into the flexible wiring conduit on that side before you know it. thank you, awesome info.
Thanks for the video. I just found that I have 3 wires broken.
I did mine EXCATLY like you did. Worked PERFECTLY! THANK YOU SIR!
My 2013 had this issue. I jumped the sensor and that worked for a couple years. Eventually got a break in 5he wire further up and could never get it fixed. Traded her in eventually
THANKS
yeah I think this is whats happening on my 2013 cadillac, other day i started wiggling the wire and for a little while door ajar was gone, but came back.
I have a 2015 f150 5.0. This is the same trouble I'm having. And it happens when my truck is off as well my lights will stay on. Could that also be the reason my alarm keeps going off? I will definitely be saving this video and taking a look to fix it this weekend if my wires are broken.

Did that fix your alarm issue? Just had an alarm go off for no reason and few days ago noticed rear door ajar issue pop up. I'm thinking it alarmed out cause it thinks someone is trying to open that door while locked.
I have the extended cab and looked to see if the wires were broken or torn and they all looked fine. Could there be another issue with the door ajar light coming on that you didn't cover?
My 2013 doesn’t have that quick connect harness under the boot. It’s a solid wiring harness leading into the B pillar. Any suggestions?
Block heater what's the fuse?
Mine just started when it got cold. Sometimes goes away when it warmer
I have a 2012 F150 with the same problem. But when I took that cover off between the door and the frame it doesn't have that wire plug, mine is wired straight into the frame......I cut into the wrapping to see the wires and there was more rubber covering the wires. I was afraid to cut into those so I put it all back together for now. I'm bummed.
What type of gauge was the broken wire?
I open and don’t see any wire broken. Any advice??
Thankyou!! Where did you get the connectors ?

Why is it that anytime anything goes wrong w/wiring anywhere...in a vehicle, or a house it "a short"? "A short" to what? A short circuit...to ground? To power? How about "an open"...circuit, or better here, "an INTERMITTENT open" circuit. GOOD VIDEO! LIKE!
Good video but I believe ford's oritation of the doors is from when your sitting in driver's seat. Right rear would be the passenger side back door.
Ok I changed the rear door wire harness exactly how you described but my rear door light stayed on. Prior to changing the harness, the dome and rear light stayed on and completely drained my battery. After changing the harness, the light stays on until 30 seconds after I start driving, then it goes off. When I turn off the truck, the lights stays on for about 10 to 15 mins and then turn off. I decided to change the rear door latch, which has a switch as well but nothing. What else could be the problem?

What model truck do you have? Extended cab or crew cab?
Your alarm says the problem is your right rear door, but it looks like you worked on your left rear door.
I have a 2014 with the door ajar problem, and it does not even have that white part. The I removed the boot, and the cables run straight through into the chassis. Guess i am screwed. I was able to test from the actuator to the door jam and i have signal there, I think the issue might be deeper. Has something to do with the ground cable is what i am thinking.
