    I was thinking about trying to manhandle the gearbox down as done in this video but concerned if I was strong enough. So purchased a beam engine hoist (aka $70) to lower the gearbox down. When It was down I tested its weight. Lucky I got the hoist, a 1.9 TDI gearbox ain't light, the man has strong arms.

    I read on your website clutch problems so I have these: Hard 1st gear while lowering my gears, hard 2nd when accelerating, and sometimes grindy reverse (behind 1st gear). Also at 4k rmp it feels like limiter kicks in and it doesn't want to accelerate. So that is my clutch slipping with a bad mount?

    Hi, nice vid as usual 👍 Just a question : for which reason, do you put some grease on the gearbox bolt holes (37:50)? Many thanks.

  • @WMCS

    @WMCS

    3 жыл бұрын

    Often times after being exposed to moisture. The thread will form a powdery rust which sizes the bolts. The grease has the anti seize compound

    This old dog fought pretty good. But Kev was up to the task. Cool how u busted out the Ryobi angle grinder to show the ball joint who the boss was. I hate those 12 point CV bolts. I like the long locking extensions that won’t allow the socket to fall off. Also the rubber retainers at the bottom of the air box. I drill a tiny hole right by the grommet and shoot some WD. Then they just come out so easy. But who am I to advise the MAESTRO?

  • @WMCS

    @WMCS

    3 жыл бұрын

    Bill you are right. The rubber grommet does get dry and makes it harder pulling the air box out. I always use lots of wd40. This time round the rust really had a drip on those fasteners... cutting disc was the only option. Hope your projects are coming along nicely and the Milwaukee tools making themselves invaluable... Always great to hear from you bill ..

    @@WMCS It’s certainly is nice to have that tool in your truck. I noticed u used to use a Ryobi impact in the old days. U probably have a few of the batteries around still. I have a few Ryobi tools too. These up close and personal vids must b hard to film. But I love em. All your stuff is excellent!! I divide the long ones into a few sittings. Very educational!!

    Hi, what is the red stuff you are applying to all the bolt holes [gearbox to engine face plate etc] @ 37:27 to 38:36......also it would be a good idea to display the type of tools , size of sockets /bits that you are using for each task etc.........good video !

    Hi, in the video at the point 12:00 to 12:33 , [after the drive shaft is dislodged/ pulled away from the engine ....Can anyone tell me why is it that the small FLANGE SHAFT with a centre BOLT (which the Drive Shaft was attached to) "has" to be removed form the engine also ????? What purpose does the removal of this Flange achieve or serve ???

    I have a question about my Polo 9n, if you could help me. I feel like the difference between the biting point and stalling is minimal. In other cars I’ve driven I can hold the car on a hill with the clutch, but on mine it seems I can’t find the biting point without stalling, if I don’t give it gas. Could this be a sign of a slipping clutch? Thank you
