My 2008 Yamaha R1 had 50,000 miles on her and she ran damn good. I had her from new and changed oil every six months. Bike was so fast never touched 6th gear. She spent most of her time in 2nd gear in the city with the occasional 3rd and 4th when hitting the motorway.

I had an 2009 R6 with 25k miles on it. I did sell because I was ready to upgrade. I was the only owner and the bike ran like a champ. I agree with you. 27k miles on your R1 is just getting started. Nice machine btw.

That mileage is not an issue. These bikes can do 100k easy, as long as it isn’t ran in red line a lot. Main thing that is most important besides regular oil changes, make sure you keep the air filter CLEAN! I run Mobile 1 4T Racing Synthetic oil in mine. Also have K&N air filters . I like to have two, one fresh one ready to go if I don’t have time to clean and oil it at that moment. Lower mileage, older bikes are not always a good thing. Depends on how and what kind of environment it’s stored in. Outside in rain and high humidity can lead to electrical connection issues, etc. K&N filters are high flow type, that’s why oiling them is required to keep dust out of your engine.

There is a difference between road miles and race miles. So 27k race miles is indead high where as well maintained road miles it’s low. Just for people looking to buy a higher mileage bike to consider

Yeah the assumption is that it's been free revved to the moon numerous times and ridden hella hard and aggressive, I don't think that is high by my standards and with proper maintenance they will go to 80k unfortunately people crash them before that so we never see 80k guages

People are obsessed with mileage... wheather it be bikes or cars they're both the same thing.. an internal combustion engine, you change the oil and filter on a regular basis... dosen't matter what mileage is on it... it'll run till something mechanical actually fails as nothing lasts forever. All my cars have over 120,000 miles on them.. a B7 RS4, E60 M5 and a Golf mk4 diesel.

The only reason thats considered high mileage is because most bikes dont get more than that because they end up wrapped around a tree. Its why harleys can do as many miles as a car and yet you never find high mileage sport bikes. They crash before anyone has a chance to put some decent miles on them.

The bike will run fine well over 25k+ miles but unfortunately 25xxxx is high mileage I have a 16 with just over 9k miles and that’s even considered “high mileage” when you apply the year. Not saying it’s not clean or won’t last but 27k is considered high mileage

27k miles on a liter bike is high. It’s like a dinosaur… that’s because most of the time they are wrecked before then. But one maintained and not wrecked no. Those motors are pretty resilient. You can get a ton of miles out of them even beating on them some,

I think it's not how many miles, it's how many owners and how many accidents. Dumbass riders might end up dumping their bikes 10 times in 20k miles. If the rider is good and keeps the bike maintained, I agree, you can really rack miles up no problem.

LOL People are just plain stupid. Yamaha specifies the FIRST time you need to check the valve clearance is... 24,000 miles. I bought mine brand new, and almost 15 years later I'm still on the original engine, even though I have a spare one sitting on a stand- the OG just keeps running perfectly. Look at my videos. I ride it the way it was made to be ridden. I've used motul 300V since day one, and when I change the clutch, or open the valve cover, the internals are spotless. Quality bike, Yamaha builds them right.
