2008 Jaguar XK (X150) more water leaking through front bulkhead seams

Ойын-сауық

You need to watch the earlier vids to understand what's been going on but I've been getting water leaking into the passenger side of the car for some time but only when the car is facing up or down a hill (like my steep driveway). On the level, no leaking at all. Water is clearly finding the lowest point and seeping into the cabin through the seams and old/cracked sealer.. I've had the car facing up my drive for the first time in a while to test my theory and presto, after a few day of rain, the cabin has filled up again.. and I've spotted the exact place where water is getting in.

I admire your calm perseverance. I got water in the passenger footwell that was caused by the air con duckbill. Cost me £800 to fix as garage had to remove gear box to reach it. Just had my 2007 XK modified (beautifully) by Grantley Design which involves a new front end and bonnet. Hope the seamwork on what’s left on the original article holds. These cars are labours of love. I’m resigned to mine being a washing machine one day albeit harder to do as modified parts are fibre glass. So maybe a surfboard. Apt if I get leaks too. Keep going!

Thanks.. I had the duckbill issue a few years ago.. Right now I've got the passenger seat in the corner of my office and the carpet in the utility room so I'll be pleased just to put it all back together. I get so little time to do things. I am a bit shocked how much water is streaming in from the front but I hope to be able to use my garage in a couple of weeks so I can get the car under cover. Your mods sound interesting. Have you changed the appearance of the front or is it a weight thing?

@@andy-maunder it’s all appearance. Google Grantley Jaguar Design Kandy Apple Red 2007 Jaguar XK 150. If you want more, send me your email and I’ll send you a PDF of an article Jaguar Enthusiasts Club Magazine printed about it in December. Mad Lockdown project.

@@jerryblackett1785 That looks amazing. Is the candy red actually your car? Where did the headlights come from?

@@andy-maunder Yes-that Kandy Apple Red convertible is mine. Dave Kennedy who runs Grantley Design, designs and manufactures everything on the car. Including the headlights. I also upgraded the 2007 car with 2010 LED lights (doors and rear lights) from the 2010 car. There are only 9 Grantley Design Jaguars currently. Although Dave is working on No10 right now.

@@jerryblackett1785 I got the wave of instant jealousy seeing that. Looks brilliant. There's me trying to stop mine flooding every time it rains! I literally can't wait to put it back together and clean it up. I've owned it for so long it's part of the family and quite distressing seeing it in bits and covered in muck. They're still massive eye-turners aren't they!..

I'm really surprised by this leaking. I have a 2005 X100 XKR and the drain from the windscreen area has a designed plastic funnel to divert water away from the bodywork. I'm surprised the same arrangement isn't there on the X150. I don't have any leaks on my X100 and I've owned it since 2011 and it is parked outside. Good luck finding a solution.

Hi.. your model is a steel construction hence extra thought was put into water runoffs whereas the X150 is made of ally so no rust.. and no requirement for specific tube draining (apparently, so I've been told by jaguar). My Jag has sat on my steep drive for getting on 14 years and I'm guessing it's a case of heat-cold expansion/contraction and subsequent cracking. I could always give it to Jaguar to deal with but I'm actually enjoying exploring the causes and finding the solution.. so long as I put it back together - in pristine order - ready for the summer!

Unlucky. Take the seat and carpet out and do a water test first.

Strange problem. I have never heard of any XK leaking before other than the duckbill issue. I can only assume it is as you say to do with parking on a slope

Hi. Yes, it doesn’t inspire me with confidence either. I’ve had the car virtually from new direct from Jag so I know it’s not been crashed/repaired and it’s only ever been parked on my steep drive. I can only assume the sealer has cracked through expansion/contraction.
