2008: Alanis Morissette 'Thank U'

Фильм және анимация

In the intimacy of Toronto’s Masonic Temple, Alanis Morissette’s effortless beauty and shining talent were practically the only light show needed, as she sparkled during Canadian Music Week 2008.
The Temple’s excellent acoustics allowed Alanis to be calmly in control, and it showed in the subtler, more mature delivery of her 1998 hit, “Thank U.” She easily outdoes the original, and versions of it recorded in larger venues. When she sings, “How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out,” the almost aggressive response from her acolytes at the side of the stage confirmed the connection between artist and audience. This isn’t a performer just singing for a crowd, this is an artist sharing her art with her patrons.
Alanis Morissette is an international superstar, with sixteen JUNO Awards and seven Grammy Awards, and records that have all gone Gold and Multi-Platinum. Recording her first demo at the age of eleven, she later appeared on children’s television, and even recorded generic dance-pop, but her iconic 1995 album Jagged Little Pill made her a star, with 5 charting singles, topping record charts around the world. She has since gone on to sell more than 60 million albums worldwide.

An amazing container of energy. I sat 1 seat over from her in church one Sunday in around the mid-2000's with my friend. I think she blessed my life.

Having a day where my thoughts are not what I would like them to be... the line I thought of ¨How 'bout unabashedly bawling your eyes out?" while I feel so drained I can´t really fully cry.... a tear or two .. but well I need to release. This song is a book of wisdom... ¨Thank you disillusionment Thank you nothingness Thank you clarity Thank you, thank you silence

You may have noticed in later videos her 2 step "dancing". People were making fun of it a little. That is not dancing. That's Alanis saying this is the tempo she wants this song played at. She has had trouble with drummers playing "Thank You " too fast. It worked.

There was a place in the song Alanis was trying to get the drummer to slow down the tempo, pointing back at him. You could tell she was being pushed through the whole song by her singing. She was uncomfortable. Still good though. Alanis is awesome!! This is the best she has ever looked. Very beautiful and sexy. I absolutely love her song writing and unique voice.

She does look kind of annoyed. It's not giving her the ability to really sing the song and work the vocals. I'd be interested to know what the conversation was after this show about how fast he was playing.
