Sophia! You're doing so good for being so young. It takes guts to get on the lift for the first time. My wife has been riding paratransit for most of her 35 years. Alot. of the time she's late for her appointments. It's so unfare when she has to explaine the transportation is second rate. Hope you have better sucsess. And the reason why they had to back up her wheelchair on the lift it's because if you have the wheelchair facing the bus it could be too much pressure for the wheelchair lift I found out from a KZread channel that shows you how you load and unload a wheelchair from a school bus and tie down the wheelchair as well

Such a lucky kid having such great parents/people around her :] On my first day of school...my mom just shoved me on the bus & left LOL.

This is a great video... A great teaching experience for her siblings.... Hope she is doing well now..... The first days can be scary.....

They are actually very well maintained, and quite safe. But they do seem a bit bulky, and as you know american vehicles in general have always been a bit clumsier, especially those manufactured before the mid-80's.

THE SCHOOL BUSES HERE IN LANSING MICHIGAN IS PROVIDED BY DEAN TRANSPORTATION THEY ARE THE SCHOOL BUS COMPANY AND THEY KEEP THEIR LIFT EQUIPPED BUSES IS EXCELLENT CONDITION

I remember riding a bbv handi. I don’t know why because I was not special ed. But the memory of that bus still lives on.

to bad they don't make that kind for adults, young people in their teens and 20s would love those type wheelchairs who are not so disabled and just need a tilt and have a lower back plus the colors.

Sophia is so independent compared to most others with SMA1 she goes to school by school bus most others stay home and are mostly bed ridden. Can't even use a power chair most are pushed the few times they are not in bed. Their life is disney land not school. I don't know their situation so I can't judge maybe they are much sicker with SMA1 their parents say school will kill them but they go to disney land all the time. But they probley are sicker because most have died long before 10 years old.
