I miss this frame always found the riders triangle to be great on this bike. And the frame to be thin between the legs... One thing to watch out for tho is the free floating pistons inside the forks. They love to blow up lol. Zeta make a solid aluminum one.. Money well spent. 👍🏻

The carb mid body gasket can cause these sort of issues once they get some age on them. Between that and the harsh cleaning solvents most people use can damage the gasket. I've built enough FCR's to know when they get some age on them they get really flat and don't seal properly which can cause air leaks. These 4 strokes also do not want to start and run if the idle isn't turned up correctly. Best of luck. Keep up the videos, they're interesting and something can always be learned from them.

Yeah, I started taking it apart to get deeper into it but my tamper torx broke on the first bolt so I gave up on it. I have two complete rebuild kits on hand. I was to frustrated to deal with the carb so I put another one I had laying around. I’ve just never run into a situation where an engine wouldn’t start even introducing fuel from an external source. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching.

Really great video as always. I’ve been working up the courage to start buying used dirt bikes and fixing them up and your channel has really inspired me a lot. I was wondering if you would mind sharing the costs on all the parts you put into your projects. I realize you already do a lot of extra work just moving the camera and editing, but even just a rough estimation of the costs would be really great to know. Thank you!

I had an issue after rebuilding a 2013 Yz450f where it would not kick start, but it would always bump start. The issue is that the cam markings should not match up with TDC marker, they should match up with 23 degrees ATDC (second marker on flywheel). After that it kick starts every time. (used the manual to correct the issue). They are not all times the same!!.

I almost never use the flywheel marks for finding top dead center. I use a straw or a screwdriver down a spark plug hole and I know 100% that Im on top dead center. The manual will tell you to look at the timing mark

Technically true however they do retain grease in the bearing. Moreover, greasing the outside of the seals won’t really advance the bearing’s lifespan, haha. Thanks for your comment.

Hi mate awesome work 👍 could you help me I’ve just fully rebuilt a 09 rmz250 put oil in and it kicked straight up, I put coolant in and it just went straight into engine 😢 I’ve stripped engine down again and cannot see anything wrong plz help 😂👍
@restoroosterohv
Жыл бұрын
That is most likely due to a bad head gasket, warped head, cracked head or cylinder. A cylinder leak test will help you determine the cause. Bad water pump seal can potentially let coolant into the engine oil as well.

It’s more than just throwing a set of piston rings in, that’s what everybody says in their ad. If it was that easy, they would just do it. The piston and the cylinder would need to be measured and replaced if necessary. If you are replacing with Steel valves, the springs will need to be replaced as well along with new seals. Full inspection of the bottom end to be sure there is no wear should also be done.
