I have always been a huge fan of these cars, and this one is exceptionally pretty with its original 18" alloy wheels which show off the huge drilled brake discs and red brake calipers that provide a flash of colour. Power comes from a normally aspirated 3.5 litre V6 mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox with tiptronic function. That means silky smooth performance, delivering an impressive 272 bhp to the rear wheels. That gives the SL impressive performance with a top speed of 155 mph and a sprightly 0-60 time of just 6.4 seconds. With that sort of performance this is a real, fun car to drive - But it's also very refined on the motorway where you really get to appreciate the cars cruise control function. The SL has heated seats and behind the front seats there is additional room for luggage - That means this is the perfect car for long weekends away in the lake district or even a cruise down to the south of France.
Whenever you drive this SL It picks you up and whisks you away silently and without any fuss yet it covers ground at such a rapid pace that you will always arrive at your destination sooner than you thought. The ride and handling are also excellent but with a limo-like ride quality that you simply would not get on any other roadster. This SL350 model has conventional suspension as apposed to the more troublesome and complicated ABC suspension on the SL500 and 55 models. These SL350s are much more inexpensive to run and still provide you with plenty of performance. It's certainly something you should consider if you are looking to buy one of these cars.
In summary, it may be 17 years old, but my SL350 still feels solid & tight - you can tell from behind the wheel that this is a quality product which has been superbly well looked after - On long journeys you will appreciate this cars superb driving position and comfortable leather seats which ensure you always feel totally relaxed.
