I did not buy the S00GM-16 because it is very expensive. I don't have steering wheel controls but I do have an Onstar mirror that i don't care for or use. I bought a dash kit, antenna thing and a Red Wolf wiring harness that is compatable with the truck. Do I really need the SOOGM?

The factory radios are keyed to the vehicle they are originally installed in. I believe you have to take them to a dealership, they have a code that can be put in the radio and re-keys it to your vehicle.

Where do I connect the accesory radio

I followed your instructions but have no sound, any thoughts?

On that 2010 Silverado did you have to add a PAC adapter for the steering wheel controls and the OnStar?

yes the pac module retained everything

When I went to install my aftermarket radio I somehow anti theft locked my truck out how do I install it without setting that off any tips?

to be honest just whatever you can afford really. me personally i would stay away from something to cheap like a no name brand radio from amazon but stick to something in the lines of kenwood pioneer jvc or sony. sony has a xav1000 that is like 299 gives you bluetooth and apple carplay

For a 2008 Silverado WT do you need the PAC adapter? This truck is basic, no onstar or steering wheel controls. Thanks in advance!

In short, Yes you will still need a PAC adapter or equivalent. The accessory power in GM vehicles is called a R.A.P. (retained accessory power) the adapter provides that for you. Hope this helps!

So.e trucks come with the USB port in the cigarette lighter whole just connected to that with the adapter

standard sizes for are pretty much the same size externally the screen sizes may be different but in order for it to be considered double din the size has to be the same no matter how big the screen is so basically 7 would be fine

Where did you get the adapter to connect the antenna to the aftermarket radio? I can't seem to find one

I got a question, i re- installed the factory stereo on my 09 Chevy Silverado and the screen does not turn on, all the lights on the buttons are on just the screen isnt, i was wondering if u knew how to fix that? Thanks and very good video bro!!!

ummmmm check and see if the radio display is turned off basically tap the screen or press the home button. if that doesnt make it come on try resetting the radio by sticking a small pin in the reset hole if that doesnt bring it on you can try taking the radio out and testing it by twisting the red and yellow wire together and attach it to power and the black to ground just to see if it does something different than what it does in the car. if not change the radio

Maybe using some metal backstraps but it won't look good cause the double din will be to small for the opening.

I have used everything that you used minus the radio. Everything is connected right and I have the volume all the way up but you can barely hear the sound. What am I doing wrong? Plz

Do you have premium sound? If so you probably bypassed the factory amp

I followed all directions on the RP5 GM31 harness and my new Pioneer radio for wiring. I seem to be having issues with the power amp in my 2010 Silverado. Everything works great, except when the volume is turned all the way up, I can barely hear and there is a light static to it. Tried two different stereos and got the same results. Is there a work around for this or something I should try to do different? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@@xiscotorres4251 I haven't, I've been trying to hook up an aftermarket radio for days. Two radios, one brand new. Two wiring harnesses, one I paid 81 dollars for. I can eject a cd, so i got power but I get no display on either radio. I guess in a 2008 Silverado you can't run red wire to red and get power.

That doesnt look anything like the dash in my 2012 silverado

The Silverado has a different power cord thing that you don’t talk about in your wiring video I found a different one that talks about it

I did. I broke one of the wires inside of the wire nut. I redid that wire and it worked great
