This was a good video to show location. I replaced mine and bought a generic one and it didn't have all I needed. Went to AutoZone and purchased a Dorman 949-202 and it was an EXACT replacement with all of the brackets included. $300. The cheap one was all plastic and I'm sending it back.

The AutoZone air compressor is also guaranteed for life. If you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time, you will be replacing the compressor again within 6 to 10 years, so it's will be worth spending the higher AutoZone price.

Thanks yes that 3rd bolt was a pain and I had to cut one screw on the bracket that they said came with pump great job thanks for the help

You can easily access the compressor by simply removing three bolts from the flexible splash shield in the wheel well. The rubbery sheet that is in the fender. This will completely expose the compressor in under 4 minutes. It helps to turn the wheel to the right to give you more room. You do not need to remove the headlight or anything else under the hood.

Travis Castellanos maybe the expedition is different than the navigator. I did it three times on my navigator. Turn the wheel all the way to the right or take it off. Then get the flexible shield out of the way. The compressor is right there. Three bolts and it comes right out.

Thanks for the Video, your navigator is Metric and is why your wrenches were loose. Pushing the orange collar towards the dryer helps release the air hose and you shouldn't have to pull as hard.

hey thanks for the info. I did try to push in the red tab but it was not working for me so I called the store which I got the Air compressor from and they told me just to pull on it hard. I have been thinking on re doing this video but I will wait until the compressor goes out again. I will make sure to remove the side fender cover next time. Thanks again.

Thanks for this video! I got it out in ten minutes. The manual says take out the fender liner. The one mounting bolt in the back was a little tight to get to but not bad at all.

Thanks dude. I have now use your video for the second time. Finally got the lifetime warranty compressor model so if it should fail again while I own the truck it won't cost $250.00.

Hey, no worries! No actually after taking it to Ford and having new ride height sensors installed and a new compressor the issue was a very small hole in the air bags! I purchased a cheap set of shocks off eBay for $120 and my bother in law and I installed them! The company actually gave me $40 each for my old air shocks in return!

I'm glad my video helped you. The aftermarket air compressor is still working. Lately, sometimes I get a check suspension warning on the led screen but, I will wait until that compressor dies to replace it.

I have a 2008 navi. I could hear the compressor come on for a minute the it went off. 2 days ago I stopped hearing it and now the back end is way low and it feels like ur rideing in a boat. also the navi has 190k miles on it. think the compressor needs replaced?

It is nice lots of birds are singing and plane fling anyway I replace my Air Suspension but my Check Air suspension sign is coming up even I reset why is that seams like air suspension is on car is suspension up mode but it does not turn on what it should. How do I reset Air suspension every time I reset after I turn on the car? 2007 Lincoln Navigator L.

I have a question for you. I have a 2012 Lincoln Navigator l that work sometimes and it goes down. But it will air itself back up and will sit and air itself back up. What I need to check for and the exact location to check parts?

Well I am not quite sure what it is for but, I replaced the air compressor again 2 weeks ago and the one I got now(aftermarket from ebay) had something similar already built into it with a hose, it even came with a bracket so it was easier and faster.

how many miles did you have on it before you had issues ?

well I don't remember but, I guess it was around 76k. Maybe less, the aftermarket compressor is still working so I guess it was worth it. I don't drive the navigator everyday I still have less than 80k on it. you have to take into consideration use, load and the elements when it comes to that part. It could get messed up more often.

Just bought a 2011 Navigator. We hear a compressor sound go on and off periodically when we are driving. Is this the air suspension system filling? Should it be noticeably audible??

The air compressor can go on at times while driving... it is normal. If you hear the vibration of the air compressor then it means that the rubber bushings(boots) are old and dry. They go around the screws that hold the compressor to the bracket as you see in this video. The noise you hear is harmless, actually if you can just put up with the noise is fine. Then eventually when the compressor goes out make sure you also order the bushings and do it all at once. Its completely up to you if you want to replace the bushings now. The noise is actually a good sign... it means that the compressor is working. Also note that if you shut off the compressor and the vehicle drops within a couple of hours you might have a leak. But dont get alarmed. The air suspension lifts and drops as the car is moving and deals with weight.

Do you by chance know where the Air Compressor Relay is located? I want to chexk that before I try replacing the Compressor.

I have 2010 navigator; compressor is kicking on too much and it's nosey ; every time I stop or when I start my car it kick on. Sometimes car is very low. I took it to Lincoln they said there is no leaking; every thing looks good. So I am still struggling heating the noise every time. I have changed the compressor 8 months ago. Is there a way to make it soft ?

There are some rubber boots that sit between the bracket and the motor. You can see them around the 8:00 minute mark. They are being held by the screws, there are black rubber. Those things dry out over time and vibration gets transferred onto the bracket making noise. Get the rubber pieces from the dealer. Please note that the noise does not mean that there is anything wrong with the system. Actually I had a 1998 model and the rubber pieces worn out.... I got used to hearing the noise.... It was a way for me to know that the compressor was working.

rami abed they are also called air compressor isolators. You can try eBay but you have to make sure it is the one for your vehicle. If you cannot get the information from the dealer you can call an aftermarket company like suncore. They are located in Florida, United States. They sell a lot of air suspension parts for the navigator and maybe they can help you. Try the dealer first for those isolators.

Haroon Shabbir no, I took a chance just replacing the compressor because back when I had 1998 model the relay failed once and the light for the air suspension on the dashboard was not on. so I could be wrong but if I figured that if the light for the suspension is on but the car is not lifting I would try the compressor, it worked out for me. anyways if I didn't get it working I was going to order the relay.

Good call I had a 2000 navi and the relay went bad. The mech. Wanted to replace the entire suspension. I picked up a relay from the dlr. The same day and replaced it in their parking lot. The suspension started working. The look on the mech.'s face was priceless.

Well I could not find any information on the relay at the time so I just replaced the compressor. Compressor is still working to this day, sometimes it stops working but when I restart the vehicle it works again. This happens at random. I will wait until the compressor stops working completely to replace it again. I could be mistaken but, if the suspension system relay goes bad I dont know if you will get an alert. I know on the 1998 model I previously owned, if the relay was bad you would get no lights on the dashboard but the suspension would not work. Maybe this model being that is more modern would let you know of the relay is bad.

Es muy probable que sea un escape de aire en la linea o que una de Las bolsas de aire de atras tenga un escape oh este rota. Para powder bien determinar donde esta el escape hay que usar agua ligado con jabon de fregar y ponerle en una botella de spray. Prender el sistema y ir hechando el spray ten toda Las mangeras y Las bolsas de aire de atras. Ya ese es un trabajo el cual se le have mas facil a un mecanico porque es mas facil si el carro esta levantado. Hay que tenr en cuenta que para que la suspension no se dañe hay que saber como levantar el vehiculo, la suspension siempre tiene que estar apagada cuando el vehiculo es levantado, hasta para cambiar una llanta. Para verificar el sistema de aire hay que levantar el vehiculo por Las llantas osea como si estubiera en el piso. Se necesita una maquina como la de hacer la aliniacion delantera... no se si me entiendas pero lo que te digo es que Las cuatro gomas de el vehiculo tienen que estar soportando el vehiculo, Las llantas(gomas/ruedas) no pueden estar en el aire con la suspension encendida porque se daña.

Que tal muy buenos días .disculpe la pregunta mi lincoln navigator se bajó la parte de atrás ya le cambie el compresor de aire de la suspensión y no se levanta también le cambie el suspensión relay y tampoco que debo hacer?

Geovani Luna used pudo verificar si el compressor esta trabajando? Si el compressor activa Pero el vehiculo no se estabiliza puede que sea un leak, ya sea una manguera rota o una bolsa de aire. Asegurese que el compressor funciona primero.

hey... lo ordene de una compañía que los manufactura en la florida que se llama suncore. decidí comprarlo de ellos porque cuando tenia una navigator de 1998 le compre uno a ellos tambien. aqui esta el link de ebay www.ebay.com/itm/311357855029 no se si el bracket que tiene la expedition es igual al de la lincoln pero lo mas seguro que si ya que son básicamente iguales.. suerte!

My compressor is working, I can hear it everytime I turn on the car. But after like 20 secs. The check air suspension light came on. Could snow be the reason??

Is the rear end of the truck lifting? Is the truck handling bumps on the road okay when you drive? Sometimes the check air suspension light comes on when the compressor is going bad. It could also be something else like a leak... In case of a leak the compressor would kick on more than usual. It could also be a faulty sensor in which case you would have to see a certified mechanic that can get the code of the truck's onboard computer.

@@descargamusicalny I'm sorry, I should have clarified. The rear is sitting low & definitely bumpy rides. It just happened when I arrived at my cousin's house. Drove 40 mins fine, and all of a sudden its bumpy. Got out and the rear was sitting low. I did drive through about 6 inches of snow before I felt the difference in the ride quality.

So I found out it was the snow. I was getting ready to take it to the dealer, and when I started the car to warm it up I was watching the back lift up. Thank God!!! So just an FYI yall. Thanks for your help!

Saludos, sube solo de un lado atras o la parte entera de atras? Esa camioneta solo tiene bolsas de aire atras. Puede que sea un escape el las lineas de aire o que una bolsa tenga un escape. El compressor usualmente prende cuando todas las puertas estan cerradas.

Como se si acaso el compresor esta dañado? Digo por que tengo una 2010navigator y seguido se prende la luz pero asi mismo tambien se apaga, la lleve al dealer y me dijeron que estaba bien pero yo no quede conforme

ArrivaPeta pero el sistema trabaja? Si el vehículo todavia sube puede ser que el compresor se está dañando lo cual es normal. Sólo espere a que se dañe definitivamente.

ArrivaPeta Bueno lo que le puedo decir es que la mía aveces la luz enciende pero todo trabaja normal. Es mejor esperar a que se dañe. Yo casi no manejo la mía ya que aqui en nueva York es difícil encontrar estacionamiento en la calle ya que el vehículo es grande. Yo tengo una honda crv del 1998 la cual manejo a diario.

Hey amigo mi esposo acaba de cambiar el compresor porque la camioneta se bajo de atras checo todos los fusibles y prendian asi que sin mas ni mas compro el compresor que nos costo $180 y lo instalo comforme tu video pero nada pasó la camioneta no subio hay algun otro detalle que sepas para ayudarnos espero que contestes pronto gracias.

Julia Gadea hay un sensor(relay) que controla la activacion del compresor. Se llama "air suspension relay". Busque el diagrama de donde se encuentra en el vehiculo. Tiene que especificar el año del vehiculo. Busque en Google. Una pregunta. Cuando dejo de funcionar? Levantaron la camioneta o le cambiaron una llanta? Trataron de apagar y encender el systema en el tablero?

do not just pull on air lines to remove... you can damage lines and connectors ... press collar pull line....

That method did not work for me so I called suncore, they manufacture the air compressor. The suncore technician told me that it was perfectly ok to pull on the lines.

Check air line whit soap and water,you going yo burn more compressors

all nuts and bolts are metric not sae.....not 9/16 .... 14mm 10mm... 7mm.... 8mm...ect

That is not the correct way to replace the air pump! He made it ten time harder, in fact he should delete this because it's so wrong. There are others doing the removal and install by train mechanics on KZread that show the correct procedure.

This compressor did not come from autozone. It came from a manufacturer in Florida. Still working to this day. You can feel free to buy as you please but, yeah if you can afford to go to a Ford dealer and get the original part then sure why not.
