You did this in the rain, in a parking lot, and in darkness, yet still had the patience to youtube document it. You sir, are a friggin hero! It took me 5 hours, 6 tall boys and 200 curses in my garage. This video was very helpful. Thanks

Video helped me replace my alternator in a grocery store parking lot yesterday. Zero mechanical skills. I got the gear wrench stuck on the water pump bolt first thing lol. Took me 4 hours...will take me 15 next time! I can't believe how crap my car was running for the last month. Feels like a new ride. Thanks!

Are any fluids going to run out when I loosen the bolts holding the bracket in? Just asking because I removed an alternator and bracket from a car in the junkyard, and stuff came running out. Not sure it ifs because other parts were already taken out or what, but just thought I’d ask if that’s something I should expect. (Couldn’t tell in your video as some things looked wet already)

If the first thing you do is loosen the bolts do the water pump pulley you can get everything out of the way and make it easier.

I did the same job and tried to remove from the top but didn't want to put pressure on the a/c lines so I followed your other video and removed the oil filter which barely dripped any oil and dropped it from the bottom. I don't know why those bracket bolts have to be so long if they weren't it would be an easy pull from up top. But I still recommend removing the bracket bolts because it makes it easier to wiggle out whether from the top or bottom. And that harness holding the wire just snip you can use a ziptie to put it back on.

Honestly, taking the filter off seems easier than mucking around with this bracket and touching the pump. You must have a couple of ramps or jacks...

Thanks for your video. It wasn't raining today, so I took mine out the bottom after seeing your struggle with the top method. Every KZreadr seems to ignore the installation of the new alternator. I had a snag there because my "re-manufactured" alternator's bushing was not flush and the made the alternator opening too small to fit over the the slotted mount. After a squeezing the bushing flush with a puller-made from a bolt, nut, and spare socket, it all went together easily. I'll bet a brand new alternator would not have the problem.

I was trying to remove those bracket bolts and it immediately starting leaking coolant on the ground a BUNCH. Tightened em back up and was able to carefully finaggle it out the bottom, from the top, without removing the oil filter. Anyone else have a BAD coolant leak trying to do this? Also I was snooping around the subframe and it appears there is a dust shield in the wheel well that might give access to alternator when removed. Only reason I didn't find out is cuz I discovered it right after I got the new alt up past the filter and thought "well that mighta been handy. Too late now" lol.

The bolt does not need to come completely off, because it is housed inside a "half-hole" bracket. See 14:47 where you can see the "half-hole" bracket, the alternator out of it and the bolt still engaged in the alternator. It is a open-pivot point. Sorry maybe for the wrong wording, it is easier to show it than to explain it.
