    I own a 2005 Elise and I love it. I loved driving before I owned it, now I REALLY love driving. Mine has a BOE REV-400 Supercharger that puts it at 305hp and it can do 0-60 in 3-3.5 seconds. It's just insane. I've owned it since November 2020 and I've already put over 10k miles on it. Pure joy, elation, and love for raw driving.

  • @GothDeathrocker

    @GothDeathrocker

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kvgbui565 I actually HAD to use mine as a daily between November and March because my daily had to have a new motor installed. The Elise does not like the rain or snow, but it's not like it just doesn't function, just not very well; drive slow, obviously. Even with mine being a performance beast, I can still get 30mpg with 91 octane fuel, although the 10 gallon tank limits your distance you can cover without having to refuel. The worst part of daily-ing her is when I need to do simple tasks - so anything that requires a lot of getting in and out of it starts to hurt, traffic is a killer due to it being a manual and pressing the clutch starts to wear down my left leg after 15-20 minutes of stopping and going, and overall space is lacking but it isn't bad if it's just you - I can fit all my stuff I need for my daily duties and I own a restaurant. The only other downside is cost of repairs and finding someone that would actually touch the car to work on it because most mechanics don't have a clue about it - most people don't have a clue about. I get "what is a Lotus?" as a question far too often, or, "who makes Lotus?" So make sure you have someone to work on it BEFORE you buy it - unless you're going to DIY the repairs. Even after all of that, the drive to and from work is a smooth dream for me. Taking curves at higher speeds than normal cars can do, taking off on straight stretches, and when I have the top off I just wave my arms in the wind going 80-100. I don't see myself ever wanting anything else.

    Greatest driver’s car. Period. Yes, there are faster. But the noises this makes, the handling, the whole experience, for 1/3rd the price (yes, these go for more than $30k avg now). COVID was nice to me and helped me find my perfect spec, even rarer than the one you drove ForcedFed Elise making 275hp. I get more looks in this thing than I did when I briefly owned a DeLorean. Thats saying a lot. Great vid!

    Back in the day I was buying a car I came across a grey Elise and after I checked out I was a minute away from buying it. It was used but it's simplicity, the aluminum tub, the stick, and the rear reliable toyota (mr2 I believe) motor behind you. Beautiful reliable and super super scary fast WITH that classic lotus handling. I loved lotus so much back then I even owned a delorean which was the first car I ever restored. The guy I bought it from ( I was maybe 22) told me I'd never get it running. I soaked the injectors for 3 days and it started right up... However 😳 after restoration when I took that car on I95 (of course I tried to reach 88 mph) it started to shake so violently I became scared. Nothing was wrong with the steering mechanics or suspension either so it just became a showpiece in my garage. On the road? It was a stainless steel exotic coffin!

    This is my FAVORITE sports car. I've loved this car since it came out. It's kind of like a souped up Miata. Yeah, much like what you said at the end. I believe cars will soon not be be though of like how we think of cars now, but rather "personal transportation appliances" They will be regarded just as your fridge or dishwasher might be.

    I'm Lucky enough to have an Elise and an 08 S240 Exige. Both rev and sound SOOO good. I have recently put the remote reservoir Penskes on my Elise, and yes, the ride is so comfortable for what it is capable of! Also, a man after my own heart.. upshifts on boring straights/traffic, a corner means DOWNSHIFT TIME!! lol

    Finally a reviewer used a word that maybe the one I've been looking for forever tactility. Now I understand what this means but I've been trying to describe this feeling where the car is talking to you and it's giving you some emotions. Many cars will not do this at all ones that are surprising BMWs Mercedes and many Toyotas don't do this at all. They're wonderful cars but they don't give any of this emotion back to the driver. Where an MR2 Toyota definitely does. Do you think tactility could be the elusive word that would describe this emotional feeling that the cars give you? I do understand what tactility means I'm talking about is this a term that's kicked around in the Auto industry to relate to this elusive emotion

    The Elise is such an addictive car to drive. Lotus quality really took a giant leap forward with this car. That was always my main complaint about Lotus: the build quality and reliability was always iffy. Much like Alfa Romeo’s, you tolerated their flaws because they were such amazing cars to look at and to drive. I’ve driven several Lotus models because I work on European cars. The only Lotus I ever owned was a 1973 Europa John Player Special. The black and gold color scheme was stunning. It was the best handling car I’ve ever driven, especially fast on twisting roads. It was always breaking down, but it was easy to pinpoint the problem and fix it. I always traveled with a tool kit and a fire extinguisher in that car, luckily I never had an engine overheat or catch on fire. It got stolen and was never found. I was really bummed out, but at the same time I had to laugh thinking about all the problems the thieves would have with it.

    For reference on age limits on owning an elise, my neighbour had a first gen elise until recently, was probably 80 when he stopped driving it, and just sold it at 90 after having it sat in his garage for 10 years. I think he sold it with around 8k miles on so was pretty special
