Saw this live & thought Katherine Legge was seriously injured, then she popped out the the care center smiling!!

That was a scary crash for sure. And she was doing SO well in that race! Her finish would've been incredible. And it wasn't her fault at all, theoretically its a mechanical issue with the rear wing just leaving. Man...

interesting to compare that Champ Cars in 2006 were still manual shifting, and the F1 cars in 2006 already had paddle shifting.

Sequential shift, not full manual - very simple step up to paddle shifting(which they did the subsequent year).

F1 cars had paddle shifters in the early to mid 90s. Champ Car began using them in 2007, and the IRL in 2008.

1:11:45 Timmy Megenbier climbed up to USF2000 in 2011, finishing 6th in the championship. Never graduated to Star Mazda or Indy Lights, though.

I was at this race in the stands in turn 5. We heard it was a very bad crash and for a while we we worried if she lived. It was great to hear she was in good shape. I had a close call in turn 5 a few years ago in the Indy lights race. I am the brown hat that jumps during the crash. Look at "Scary crash at Road America"

Lola was beautiful

Last open wheel race for a Lola in a Major series at US soil. First Lola win came with Mario in 83, in Elkhart Lake also.

I Saw this live too and I thought Katherine Legge had gone after that horrible crash! Glad she came out of that ok!

I mean it’s ChampCar and not IndyCar so that’s when IndyCar was starting to rise and ChampCar was starting to die out I believe.

@@BH28Racing Both were floundering at the time. The IRL had only 19 cars in most 2006 races.

Low car count, lots of "unknown" drivers. Champ Car really struggling at this point. Sad to see.
