2006 - 2013 Chevy Impala Full Review
Today I’m giving you guys a look at a 2008 Chevy impala LT. This model is just like the 2006-2013 models. Have to say I’m pretty impressed with the Chevy impala. Has a lot of good interior futures as well as exterior features for the year. The model I am showing you guys is flex-fuel compatible, which makes it even better. Hope you guys watch till the end!!!

@@martinrangel670 I recommend the type of car but hard to say about a specific one depending on the condition it is in
I've had two of these, a 2007 LT 3.5 with the front bench, white interior, sunroof package. And my current one for nearly 7 years, a 2013 LT with the 300hp 3.6 V6, 6-speed, with the bigger wheels, black interior, sunroof and the floor shifter. All I can say is that they are not Toyotas, however, if you keep up with maintenance, drive them gently and treat the inside with care, they are fantastic. Keep in mind that most of the issues with these are cheap plastic parts and they will break. Thankfully most of these parts are just a few dollars and you can fix them yourself. Other annoyances are avoidable, like getting one with a sunroof. These will leak and the drains are a pain to locate and unclog. And the most common problem on these are the blend door actuators for the climate control. There is no avoiding it. They will break and they can be very obnoxious. If you hear a tapping noise between the dashboard, that's the problem. Replacing costs nearly $900 (for a simple $20 part) at the dealership, unless you want to do the job by yourself, which will take you about 30 minutes and some research.

I watched the youtube video on replacing that actuator. $15 on e-bay or $30 at Napa. Easy replacement. Just pull the gove box out of the dash and swap it out. It sounds like a man in your glove box punching the dash.

I have 2006 LT in red with a sunroof and I love it, has 173,000 miles but my water pump blew. Leaked coolant before getting it replaced. Also may leak power steering fluid. Shop said it was the rack and pinion got that fixed too but it still leaks a little at a time. Other than that the car is reliable and good on gas.
Do the video on the 09 SS version
These cars went from the 3.5 at 211 hp to the 3.6 with 300 hp in 2012. From what I've heard, though, the older 3.5 was a more reliable engine. The new 3.6 had issues with the long timing chain and guides. I think these cars are a great value for the price.
@calebmedina4689

the 3.6 lfx camaro had those problems most notably in 2010 (its debut returning year) and by 2012 they had already been sorted as that's considered the most reliable year for the 5th gen camaro, so by the time the 3.6 entered the impala it had been through its growing pains.@@Anon1mous

Just change the trans fluid regularly. On the 3.6s, Chevy put a drain plug on the bottom. It’s easier than changing the oil. Just drain and fill every other oil change or 30k miles at the most and you’ll be solid.

I recommend adding Lucas Transmission fix as an additive to the impala that has over 100000 miles on the transmission, also if you ever change your transmission fluids and filter always add a bottle of Lucas with it
If only GM would of change the style with the outdated 2014 impala I think it would still be here

Looking to buy a 2006 (no regard for trim or engine) or newer for around $3,000 to $4,000. Good idea? It's gonna be my first car and I'm not really mechanically inclined. Only real issue I've heard of is the AC Actuators.

Yeah 06 is good! For sure you will be able to find one for no more than $4,000, depending on the mileage. But just be carful and make sure to get it fully inspected before you buy the car! Most Important things are rust as well as a engine inspection. I wouldn’t drop $4,000 on 06 higher than 120k, unless it is in tip-top shape!!

This generation has regular legroom like a Camry of Fusion even though it has a bigger trunk. The 9th generation is a true large car where the extra legroom makes everyone feel more comfortable. The 8th generation is more like a mid-size. Not sure how Chevy achieved the extra space since it is only 1 inch longer for the 9th generation.
I have the same car but 09 the only problem I have had to replace the water pump GM uses a special antifreeze which overtime eats aluminum the water pump is aluminum my mechanic said to drain the antifreeze and replace it with an antifreeze that mixes with any make or model I did that and have had no more problems

We love this car in Iraq 🇮🇶.but we have two problems the 3.5 model has a shity transmission it always breaks down. And the 3.6 is a gdi it needs a high octane gas ⛽ that we don't have .our gas ⛽ is so bad that caused an engin damages the Pistons get broken but we fixed this problem by using acadia Pistons which are stronger they can take alot of nocking..forgive me for my English if it's not that accurat.
I have 2006 in my garage. Needs head valves replacement. I've done so much fixing man. I feel is not worth it anymore. List I have fixed: 1.Rebuild Transmission. 2.replaced heater core 3. 3x-rack&pinion. 4. Radiator. Thermostat. Water pump. 5. Headlights. 6. Right head valves replacement. 7. 3 or 4 times change vents actuator and still have the same problem. ( Gave up- just annoying ticking). Needs fixing. 1. Replace left head valves. 2. Figure out why overheating. 3. A/C Refill 4. Tires. 5. Crack front window. A rock chip hit from a 18 wheeler. 6. Broken lid middle glove box. Sooo. Yeah to much. This vehicle is my high school. I might either sell as-is or project.
Those Impalas have transmission issues. They break down after 100,000 miles. Should have had a recall.
