I have a 2004 Arctic Cat ATV 400 with the same problem, but I did not have to remove the u-joint. The u-joint “yoke” has splines that allow enough driveline movement to slide back, providing enough clearance to remove the driveline. Reinstall was relatively painless.

Thanks! You came up with an exelent ideal. I have a 2006 650 v2, that has a seal leaking. The book and the youtube videos all say you have to remove the front diff to pull the drive out. On mine there is a snap ring that hold that shaft in. But still i can just disassemble a portion of the whole unit. Hope your method works for me!

Thanks, I had the exact same problem, Strange there is no locking method to keep the splines engaged.
