Love your videos, you have a great approach when diagnosing issues..
Your channel HAS HELP ME so much, you would be shocked at all the people who find positivity and enthusiasm just from your spark. Don’t let the trolls get you down 🤙🇺🇸
Have the first gen 2003 Toyota Tundra 4.7 liter 190k miles. Fingers crossed, elbow, eyebrows, teeth crossed it has been a good truck. First time watching his video. Did not know he only had the 3.4 liter engine.
Nice work! It always feels good to me to fix little things I've put off for a while. Then I say to myself that I should have done that a long time ago!
Every video u make buddy !! Short or long are great!! 👍 Video keep up the great work man !!! & You are almost there man with the subs!! To 500k 🎉

Wise beyond your Years Chris
Nice. I love the power switch upgrade so you have 2 Wheel Drive low. I had an 85 forerunner with a marlin crawler dual case and I used 2 Wheel Dr. low all the time, with a front locker it just steers, much better on tight jeep trails in 2 Wheel drive.
Always good to wake up to another NNNH video 👍
A very informative video on what to do if the ADD unit failed and you are off road, and an easy fix when one does go to repair it provided it was an electric motor issue and not a mechanical issue. All my previous four wheel drives had free wheeling hubs, that way I could leave the hubs in 2WD & engage low range to backup a trailer for the times when I needed the benefits of lower gears. An added benefit of 2WD low range is that it reduces wear on your clutch by not causing you to ride the clutch when backing up a trailer for more control. My current 4WD (a diesel LR3) is the first with an automatic gearbox. With all the wiz-bang electronic traction aids it is great offroad. I can select low range on that one without worrying about damaging the drive train. I was totally against automatic gearboxes in a 4WD, but I must say I have turned. Automatic gearboxes and the electronic controls in a modern 4WD are a game changer.
Very informative post chris I’ve often wondered how it all works I’m sure the setup on my Nissan Navara must be similar, keep up the great work
Been following you, Jennifer, Gus, and Turbo for a couple of years, enjoying every minute. This is an aside about your video from April 2020 on loading string on a Kobalt trimmer. When I googled “how to”, your video was the first to pop up. It was Short and to the point, I had the string quickly loaded. Thank you - Keep on rolling!
I like your open air garage 👌 but your going to have a hard time this winter 🥶 keeping it heated 🌡️ I’m glad I got you before your garage floor has gone in. Depending on the lift you’re going to get check with the manufacturer of the lift and find out the floor requirements how thick, psi, rebar placement, electrical and if you’re going to run conduit in the concrete or not. You get the idea. Whenever you drill holes in the concrete you don’t want to hit the rebar. How high the ceilings should be before the building is put up. By the way I truly appreciate your two channels and your almost at 500k on this and 411 on the other channel thanks again for your work Thumbs up 👍
Can’t wait to see new garage!
Thank you, nicely informative, keep up with the great content that you put out
Thank you for updated on that part replacement and switch to add also fix up Chris :) and keeping that on repairs got do sometime for someone to on that 4×4 part!
Outstanding 👍 Now it's beer time !!! Cheers !!!
That is a sweet Yoda. Keep her as long as you can!
I had a ‘05 SR5 Crew Cab 4x4. Had the 4.7 V8… 16 years of trouble free use with 198K miles. With the recent great used car market, sold it for 10K. Picked up a new Tacoma TRD with the 6sp MT. Toyota trucks will out live us. Your Tundra brings back great memories. Always great content. 👍

thanks again for the vid chris.
Great video and great truck🔥👌😎
My 98 dodge has same type fork ! Clipped mine in full engagement so I don’t have too worry about the vacuum switch !
wow, yea that is nice to know. thanks dude
Nice one Mr 😎
Way to go bud!
hope the shop build progresses - seems sensible to build onsite
I use 2Lo (hubs unlocked) in my stick f350 all the time with trailers. Easier on the clutch for creeping

Yeah 2 low is where it's at! It sucks working the clutch trying to back in a steep driveway in 2H
👍good fix , Eze fix , like that
The garage is gone!! Out with the old and in with the new!
that was the one of the perks to the 87 Toyota I drove back in the days. It had manual hubs so to pop a curb or creep around something on pavement all I had to do was put it in 4 low and it was just really 2wd creeper mode. any time there were parties and all the parking was taken up all you had to do was put it in low and pop the curb and park.
Hello from portugal men i like your Content
hey Chris!! Thumbs UP!!
Did the same in my 89 gmc 1500 lol different situation but if the truck was on it was on with the actuator fun stuff ❤ the video
“Somehow” water got in there. 😂😂😂
Supprt and love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
I have a 2004 sequoia and had to take that actuator out because it has a bad oil leak and you can get it out without dropping diff but it’s tight
Very educational space where was old garage looks much bigger.
I swear that truck had the v8 especially with the cars you tow with it 😂
@NNKH2

Nope, just the good old 3.4 V6. Two wheel drive low really comes in handy getting her going on steep hills with the trailer
“Water somehow got in there and shorted it out”. I think we all know how water “somehow” got in there and shorted it out.
I just took mine apart on my 2000 4.7 a couple months ago. The contact point were corroded. I took the plastic cover cleaned up the contacts and works great now! New ones were like $200-$300 I said screw that. They are kind of a bugger to get to but not bad. I'm a huge fan of first gen tundras since I bought it 4 months ago!

@@Nate-vs1kb The 2uz is great! And I've talked to a bunch of tundra owners and from what I've heard is the 4.7 is better on gas than the 5.7s. Stay up to date on the timing belt and they'll run forever!
was always wondering what that 2wd switch on the left of the dash was all about. i used to have a 2002 4runner (an awesome rig, too bad it burnt to the ground 🙁)with the same 3.4 motor as well as what i am assuming was the same 4wd system, and having that kind of versatility would have been nice.
👍👌👏 Well done again (video and work). 2) 😭😭😭 Unfortunately no cute little Gus 💚 in this video. I absolutely adore this dog. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health in particular.
That oil pressure though lol
I got 0442 EVAP code on my mustang. I know it's the passenger vent valve. Not in any hurry with that either.
Certainly a good idea right now I'm driving my old truck with locking hubs Bill Dodge diesel that's what I told around my stuff with and many times I used for low to manoeuvre big trailers around with a locking the hubs for sure
Oh man my 89 xj had that had rubber lines vacuum activated worst thing in the winter lines would freeze and become brittle could have ran a cable and manually do it but i just swapped a different dana 30 in i got for free
Hey Chris, New viewer here and sorry if I've missed the obvious, but dude.... Someone stole your garage!?!? Ummmm... like its gone. Would love to see the police report. ;-) Anyway, So can you share a video on what happened to the garage and what you plan to build in its place. Thank you so much. Love the videos and content! All the best.
The submarine😂 New garage time?
It's funny😂 to me the way you said 🗑 garbage
do you have a video on how you mounted the winch forward
I’m looking for a older in good shape Tundra. I wasn’t aware that yours had a V-6 with the trailer and things you pull with it. I’ve seen a couple of V-6 trucks for sale….and after you using yours the way you do….. A V-6 in good shape is something to think about.
i like the first generation Toyota tundra.
Wish you were my neighbor Chris, your the boss on fixing cars.Ive got a 1979 jeep CJ7 with a 304 in it and the dipstick tube broke off today, not going to be a fun fix.
My old ram w150 had a vacum forking mechanism like that . I permanent deleted it.
My 5sp manual Diesel PK Ford Ranger has the same system but instead of an electric motor it uses vacuum to engage and disengage. I used an electric over air valve to open and close this line so I could back my trailer in low. Anyone that has one of these ute's knows how ridiculously high 1st and reverse gears are.
is that on the 4runners too? luv the channel n wife luvs the gus outros too

Where was Gus to supervise this repair?
Look at the 4x4 community. There's probably a delete kit available with manual locking hubs.
@NNKH2
Жыл бұрын
Honestly I prefer this mechanism over manual locking hubs because you don't have to get out of the truck to do it. But it would be cool to replace the motor with some kind of cable linkage
I don't think I like all those plastic gears inside that little motor controller unit. (ADD?) With age, those plastic parts are going to become brittle and become prone to breakage. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
@NNKH2
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. However they seem to be pretty darn reliable. Plus it's only four screws that you have to take off to bypass it in case of a failure. Which is not too bad. I'd rather be a mechanical switch with no motor
