@@lor7780 The cars are not faster. Yes, they can pull of better times, but that's only due to the fact that they benefit from 15 years worth of technological advancement. If top teams were allowed to build an F1 car powered by a NA V10, using the technology available nowadays, it would easily be faster that the pieces of shit we have now.
When you didn't need DRS to pull off an overtake and sound of the engine gave you goosebumps..

This is a time where aero was simpler and engines were loud. It's different now so get used to it. If no drs you would moan there was no overtaking at all. Just cant please you can we haha

This is so cool, everyone is driving on their own lines, overtaking, the whole race is living all the time. And Schumi doing his job, a real legend. I wish the best for his whole family.
i absolutely loved these and am kicking myself every year because i never got to see a race in person when they were v12's or v10's. i also loved this style onscreen display

The modern cars are also a lot heavier so that can't be good on tyres. Like over 800kg

My father told my teacher that i was "sick", so that we were able to see Kimi and Schumi (from a distance) at the first Chinese GP. That´s the story of me becoming the coolest kid in 3. Grade. For watching the coolest guys driving the best and loudest cars on Earth! I would be a joke in school if my dad took me for a race full of super fast VACUUM CLEANER...

Even the modern cars are super loud in person. No, you cant hear them from 5 miles away from the race track, but they very much arent vacuum cleaners.

The thing with Michael Schumacher is that he always used to drive with the car; he for example floors it but then uses the slight oversteer to position the car or even shift up earlier so that the engine doesn't develop too much power for that specific situation though he still doesn't have to lift. It's amazingly stunning to look at. What a legend.

He drove different with the v8 cars towards the end of his career. The style you described was common in the traction control era, especially with top drivers on top teams. Alonso would specifically request an understeery car to provoke oversteer under power to increase rotations in slower corners, for example

It was most amazing to be awake at 4am to watch it live. I enjoyed sitting at my desk jotting down notes and plugging numbers abput average track speeds of different cars and compating them with the other cars during stints. I did this along with Steve Matchet talking the numbers during a race, while David Hobbs would interupt him to talk about what the drivers are doing during intense drivers battles. And the occasional mention of that moment when Ross Brahn got Michael's radio and said "Um, Michael, we need you to do the next 16 laps under the lap record." [V10 whail during deceleration] Downshift, Downshift, Downshift, Downshift, Downshift........ [Michael's voice- Ok!...... V10 acceleration, upshift, upshift, upshift. Amazing times, gone forever.
0 km/h to 320 km/h in just 10 seconds... Pay attention 0:12 to 0:22 seconds Absolutely fantastic! 🏁🏎️

No. The clutch is manual to get going. For everything else it's automatic but it's always there.

No. As soon as the rear wheels locked up the car would’ve grabbed neutral. These engines didn’t have the torque to take off in fifth gear. The data feed was lost momentarily when he spun

I mean these 2004 cars were limited, and deliberately slowed. IF given modern pirellis instead of grooved tyres they could quite possibly beat even the 2020 cars. Schumacher, Barichello and Montoya still hold lap records at Italy, Turkey, China and Australia (Pre 2022 layout) from 2004 and 2005 to this very day

In F1 car there is no space to do heel toe. Drivers are braking with left foot.

F1 cars has their own rev match system. Drivers not doing it and there is no clutch actually besides for first launcing at the start.

Actually, KERS is awesome, I'm glad it's now integrated with the car's main power output rather than being driver-controlled. It makes so much sense, and actually makes for pretty good racing when done right, for example, WEC. DRS is another story. But does prove well in DTM, and unlike F1, DTM drivers are given weight penalties when they start outpacing the entire field.

Ricky Spanish agree 100%...attended 2001 US GP...V-10s 18,000 plus RPM. The sound is something I will NEVER forget. McLaren's on the down shift sounded like a fucking explosion!! Mika's last win. Michael was second I believe. We drove from Texas to Indy. Best time ever.
