2004 Chevy Impala Radiator Flush: Philadelphia

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I will show you how to do a radiator flush. Customers vehicle was slighting starting to over heat. The radiator had a mixture of green and orange coolant which is BAD for the radiator and engine.
What tools you will need are pliers for radiator hose clamps, bucket for coolant, new coolant specifically for you engine, and water hose to flush out old coolant.

    Helpful video, man. The corded radiator hose clamp pliers are game-changers. Any thing more to know when changing both hoses too? Same motor, but on a 03 Monte Carlo. Thanks

    just a few questions if I may. 1. did anything bad happed over the winter with using 50/50 mix and it being diluted with the water currently in radiator, block and heater core? 2. Did you open the bleeder valve stem or the entire assembly? 3. Did you ever change that blinker/indicator light lol. THE WORLD MUST KNOW

    Would this be the same steps for a 2002 Chevy impala LS 3800? I think my engine seems similar if not the exact same as you worked on in this video.. When I cut my heat on there is a short burst of heat then my heat drops drastically to the point my heat runs cool.. I think it could be this part of my engine clogged up

    For my 04 Monte Carlo, the sprocket wheel inside my actuator got worn. That opens and closes some sort of vent or flap that that lets cool air or heat in when I turn on the air or heat. Until I replace I removed it and have to go underneath and turn that little knob by hand. It's all a headache

    Tap water could be the reason it leaks, all the crap in non distilled water can build up and when you add a coolant that could break that loose. You could either plug it somewhere or uncover a hole that has been covered by said crap.

    If you just do that you will have bubbles in your coolant system and will eventually cause problems, overheating etc.. auto shops usually flush and then fill under vacuum to prevent air in the system. Think air in your stomac causing discomfort and needing to burp.

  • @bravehardy3870

    @bravehardy3870

    If you did all of that and it's still not blowing out what it's supposed to, might be a bad actuator underneath across from where the blower motor is. It's connected to a valve that opens and closes a vent door that determines whether hot or cooled comes in based on which ever one you turn in. A sprocket with teeth gets stripped and fails to turn the valve. If you listen near your glove box and hear a mystery clicking, that might be it.

    Seeing the green at first and orange second means someone was just throwing in regular coolant with the dexcool. (They don't mix at all) also instead of pulling hoses and making a mess, you can take off the petcock on the bottom of the radiator to drain ALL the coolant. You have to run it with the heat on to cycle the water through the heater core and drain it again. These are bad instructions.
