I picked up a 2001 ( 2021) last summer for $3500 Cdn. Low 24000 miles.great bike, fast and comphy. I had a roadster 1700 years ago, but it was close to 800 lbs wet. This one weights 650lbs. Much easier to handle and the wide tires are very stable. A diamond in the rough for sure.

Thinking of getting one of these but a 1999. Your videos are super helpful

I just put a 1998 speedo on my 1999. Is there just a reserve light for the gas? My 99 had 5 bars that would indicate gas level and then the reserve light. I notice 2 trip meters b ut no gas gauge on the 98 speedo.

That's right. I have a '98 as well and I use one trip meter for tracking the trip miles; and the other to estimate fuel left in the tank. I've learned that as long as I refuel around 120 miles I'll be ok. Ride safe everyone.

In 1998 the 1500 LC Intruder was the biggest motorcycle you could by for money. In my opinion a very underrated bike. Like Sean says in this clip it have plenty of power and it is big, the motor never runs out of power. The build quality is also very good. The fueltank under the seat gives the bike a better handling. A cruiser you can drive for many hours also 2 people and not be tired.

Came across one of these bikes cheap and remembered this video. Bought it and couldn't be happier. It's a big bike that feels light and nimble. Intruder>boulevard

I just recently bought myself a 1999 VL 1500 intruder as my first bike. It fits me nicely since I'm 6'11" and well built. I really enjoy riding it. Only 9900miles. It's yellow and white. Quite the unusual combination.

Just got one of these for the free from my paw in law. Sat up for 9 years and believe it or not it fired up on first try with a hot battery and new gas mixed in with the old. I’m a little fellow and this is going to be a great cruising bike for me.

Just got one for 200 bucks and it sat since 08..... new fuel and oil and fired up like it did back in the day. I haven’t rode it yet because I’m still giving it a little tlc but can’t wait!

Just picked up a 2000 VL1500. Very first road bike ive ever had. Absolutely in love with it. Big, wide, low and loud with the Cobra neighbor haters on it. Only paid $2000 and the paint is in great shape with brand new seats

I work at a senior living facility and I just bought a 2001 intruder 1500 from one of the residents that live there. $1700 cash and it has more than 1K in mods, talk about a good deal !

That is a good deal. I got '98 intruder 1500 from a buddy. He didn't so any mods to it; but I added a few small things but it's a great bike.

Just bought a 98 12000 miles 1600 he wanted 2000

I bought a new one in 2001. The bike had single disk brake on front. Went to dual brake in 2002. It was one of the best bikes, it was smooth with a lot of power. The only other thing that I didn't like. You had to take tank (airbox) off to get to plugs.

Sean, I've been watching your videos for like a week, maybe 2 weeks. I've been binge watching lol. I think you are awesome. Your videos are great, I thoroughly enjoy your test ride videos. I have not yet purchased my first bike yet.. I hope to start on a Vilcan 800 or a sportster 883 or 900 or a V Star of somekind.. I'm 28 and my father has had an Ultra Classic for like 11 years, a Voyager before that and a Vulcan 800 classic before that. I cant wait to join him on rides. I have a 1998 VL 1500 Intruder and I like it a bunch. However, I disagree with SRK that it's a light bike. I also have a 2005 Honda VTX 1300C and the Intruder is noticeably heavier and it's not as nimble as the VTX. But they're both awesome bikes. Ride safe everyone.

I have 2006 c90 boulevard and I love it smooth as he'll ,solid power, very comfortable for long runs, just put cobra speedster pipes on with hwy pegs and a cobra fi2000r fuel controller on and dam just absolutely love it won't ride any other bike. Stops nice and I am almost 6 ft tall and I look small on it so it would be a great bike for bigger people.

Just bought an 08 C90. I'm 6'5" and even a lot of the larger bikes just didn't have good ergonomics without messing with seats, handlebars, floorboards, etc. The C90 was the best fit.

I Learned there's A LOT of differences in the Intruder and Boulevard. Seats are different, fake gas tanks are different, Side panels are different, Intruder is 3 valve, Boulevard is 4 valve and FI, Frames are different. Block is the same yes but don't go ordering stuff you want to upgrade on an Intruder without doing the research

Ben Sutherland it’s amazing what a pair of bars does to the look of a bike. Some bikes look great but I dislike their bars (Vulcan 2000 comes to mind)

I just got mine for $250 (California) Clean no dents no scratches 2002, 20k miles, a lot of extras just needed a new battery 🔋 beautiful bikes but I will never pay more than $1500 for it! I know I can find them cheap af!

5 years ago I decided to check off a bucket list item and get a bike. I took the local MSF course and bought a Vstrom 650. Unfortunately I never really got comfortable on it and sold it after 6-7 months. Lately I've been hearing this little voice in the back of my head saying give it another shot. This was my first bike and I love it. Comfy, got big power, and handles pretty good for a big bike. Plus they aren't that expensive. Got mine for $3200 with only 14k miles on it.

Maybe Suzuki planned "Intruding" on the domestic cruiser market with this bike? Bonsai!

What kinda name is bullivard for a cruiser, Intruder is much better. It was intruding on Harley territory. I bought one in 87, still runs great.

Hi, I'm similar to you in height and, I have a '98 VL 1500 Intruder. Your height is fine for this bike. However for a new rider like yourself, I would not recommend such a big bike as your first bike. I would suggest getting a smaller bike to start with and gain some experience and confidence. Then upgrade to a bike like this. Btw, I mean no disrespect or offense. My friend sold me his VL 1500 Intruder because this was the first bike he ever owned once he got his license when he had no experience riding any kind of motorcycle (except the riding school bikes which are usually small Honda Rebels) I realize this thread is 3 years old, but I wanted to share my opinion. I wish you luck with your lessons and hope you enjoy your riding career. Ride safe.

Curious Ive only been on a johnny pag spyder 300 and have the opportunity to get an 03 intruder 1500 just nervous cause of the big difference. How is it going from 300 to 1500

In my opinion if you just be careful and don't let the number intimidate you then you will be fine, I learned to ride through a safety course on a 650 and then as soon as I finished hopped on my mom's 1200 low Harley sportster and I loved the difference, the power is great and I think the more power the better.

the biggest adjustment I had going from a 750 to a 1500 was stopping actually the bigger bike takes a lot more time to stop

I bought one a 2002 with 60k miles is that much miles for a intruder? The bike is good and well maintained.

These bikes get over 100,000 miles easily you should get a lot of life out of your bike. Ride safe

5,5 to 6,5 liters riding normal. Riding hard around 7,5 to 8 liters... For a carburated 1500 cc not bad at all.

1500 with a 3 gallon gas tank. I fill mine every day I go to work. Top speed is 110 wide open and you will go through 3 gallons in roughly 60 miles (not that I would know)

just bought a 99 with 16672 miles for 1200$ runs good

Sold my vn800 classic due to the lack of power on the highway, found a good deal on this bike but it only got 10-12 hp more. Do you Think it would be sufficient?

This bike as lots of torq, is not only the HP. More than enough power for highway riding at nearly 70 hp.

My 03 rides rough as shit with my woman on it also hate the key locks they seem to always rattle under acceleration. Other than that not a bad bike for the price.

VTX 1800 weighs 714lbs vs this bike 699lbs. Not a huge difference. Maybe it’s cuz center of gravity is different between the two bikes

The name change made sense because being an Intruder is never a good thing? But it's a good thing to be a Drifter, fat boy, nomad, savage or a shadow? Or Ninja - a person trained in ancient Japanese martial arts and employed especially for espionage and assassinations. Is that a good thing? I swear you will say anything to sell a bike. If they had changed it from Boulevard to Intruder, you would have said the name change gave the bike more manly appeal. If you ever get out of the business of selling used motorcycles, you would be good at selling used cars.

I remember these when they first came out like 1986? Suzuki selected "Intruder" name I think, because this was their NEW "OFFERING" ..... to the " low rider, chopper looking cruiser" FIELD..... thus the name ...Intruder...get it.?

It's not heavy? My dad has one and it's the heaviest bike I've ever felt. I havent driven it though. But to me it feels like it weighs like 900lbs Edit: I have since got my endorsement and ridden the bike several times. It is lightweight feeling during the ride, but still quite heavy while sitting, especially trying to inch forward in neutral

I agree with you on it feeling heavy while sitting. I have a 2005 Honda VTX 1300C as well as the VL 1500 Intruder. In comparison, the Intruder is about 20# heavier than the VTX, but it feels heavier than that since it's (the Intruder) not as nimble as the VTX because of the slightly longer wheelbase of the Intruder.

It's hard to see you ride in shorts knowing the damage that occurs to unprotected skin in the event of a spill.

Had a 94 1400 intruder, glad to see it go. Replaced it with a Stratoliner I paid 3500 for - best move ever.

Not sure about the name... I think it's fine. Haven't done much riding. Got a Honda Shadow 750 ACE last spring, sold it this spring because I was going away for the summer... Anyway, I still want to ride so, I looked on my local Craigslist and found an '02 Intruder VL1500 for $2200. I'm only 5'6". You say it's not heavy. I wonder if I can handle it. It has 80k miles. Older man has to sell... well maintained. Thanks for the vid/ review

Hey mate, I'm 5' 7" and I ride a M109R 2007. Its great because the weight is low down and you can move it side to side with your knees when you're stationary. Get it.

One of the worst bikes I ever owned, best day was when I sold it..its not dependable, shitty carbs, stupid decompression system that is a enevibility of failure and sure to leave you stranded, the electrical system is junk..weak, harness is under gauged and not grounded properly..it actually is atrociously heavy..the gas tank up top is fake, cause its heavy they put the gas tank under the seat so you won't drop it in a slow turn...there are dozens of forums out there dedicated to this bike for problems and DIY fixes for about everything bolted on it, I wouldn't give a plug nickel for a truck load of those bikes.
