Great illustration on finding out the bad/shorted ACSD switch. Now, here's a question........my nissan truck (2007 Armada) is not throwing a check engine light on the dashboard. The shop installed a new Clockspring and after that, while driving, i felt a pulsating/vibrating effect on the pedals on certain condition like turning my steering at certain speeds and will throw a VDC/SLIP indicator on the dashboard. They inspected more and found out that when they turn the steering wheel there is no angle value that their scanner is reading (meaning it stays at zero degrees). They said the Steering Angle Sensor is good, but the ACSD switch is bad. No code, pulsating/vibrating on pedals due to no data from steering angle sensor, throwing a VDC/SLIP light and it comes down to the ACSD switch? I asked the mechanic who did the work what the ACSD switch do and said it should provide data to the ECM on the Steering Angle and once the ACSD switch is fixed that pulsating effect will go away. I just found out today before this video that ACSD is about the cruise control switch in the steering wheel, but he didnt mention anything about cruise control. How is the ACSD cruise control switch connected to the Steering Angle Sensor? And why would it not send data to the ECM if the ACSD is the one that's bad? Or my gut feeling is right that the shop is pulling my leg? The good thing though is the clockspring turned off the blinking Airbag light which is why it came to this clockspring replacement and the pulsating issue.

The P1564 is pertaining to the cruise control switch, now as far as the others, you might want to check the switch, or the wiring down at the base of the steering column.

I have a 05 maxima that just threw the same code now the only thing is that i have a aftermarket racing wheel so i do not have cruise controlls on my vehicle is this something i should worry about? Will it effect my vehicle performance or anything? Or can i let it go and it will be fine?

Hay Tim, I got the exact nissan 2003 2.5L, no service check engine light but my innova scanner shows the two P1564 codes. I am due for smog and wondering if this code fails smog test ?. I randomly checked with my scanner because i want to make sure there are no hidden codes but weird that these two codes show up. Is that possible ? and how please guide... thanks

Do you think i can leave it or i need to replace the switch.. ? got the following Questions : 1. Can the switch be repairable ? 2. why would the switch go bad if cruise control switches were never used on the car.. Barely the switches were pressed to get stuck or failed.

@@srinivas4912 Thanks for the update! The only issue you will have is no cruise control, which is not a problem at all! As far the switch being repairable, it just may be, but get a price on a new one before you attempt it, they might not be that expensive.

Hi there... I recently had the transmission replaced on my 2012 2.5 Altima.. the replacement tranny came from a US specs vehicle while my car is GCC specs. Anyway.. the car works fine except that the cruise control set light starts to flash once the car reaches 100kmph speed which is roughly 65mph. Once this happens.. the cruise no longer activates and only keeps on blinking till I restart the car and keep it below 100kmph speed. Any ideas?

Even though it came out of the same year, it still may have to be programmed. If you didn't have this issue before the replacement, you might have to get it programmed because it is a computer controlled transmission.

Did the reprogramming.. same thing.. Just hooked up a scanner to check for codes and Im getting code P1574. Replaced both the sensors... still same code.

The US spec has miles per hour while here in the gulf we have kilo meters per hour... does this has anything to do with all this as this only happens once car reaches 100kmph speed.

check your ground to the steering wheel and the harness behind the airbag, if those are fine check the clock spring
