Hello and welcome to 2003 !
Here's a quick demonstration of Steam 2.0 Beta and Counter-Strike 1.6 Beta gameplay. This is 2003 as it gets folks ! :) Videos are gameplays we have recorded while we were testing and improving these builds and had so much fun while we were testing and recording them. With the extensive help of XJR9000 and everyone, we are proud to release these builds for everyone to enjoy. For more gameplay footage from other players perspective, see the credit links below for their videos. Gameplays in the video are recorded on 4 February 2022 and 7 January 2022. Gameplay showcasing bots were recorded on 4 February 2022, HLTV footage from our gaming night was from 7 January 2022.

*CRITICAL NOTE: Game only works on unmodified Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (or if you are running a Virtual Machine, setup a WinXP SP3 build and download/install Service Pack 4 below)

I played the beta as well in 2003 but I had forgotten it still had 1.5 wep models, cool.
fkn epic, so much nostalgia there, nice job :D
I remember when I saw this game for the first time, the rendering of the characters was some of the best I had ever seen.
Wow!! This is gold!!! I still remember how some weapon sounds were different in CS 1.6 Beta and this video gave me so much nostalgia!! I joined Steam in around may/june 2003 and I remember CS 1.6 was still in its beta and had bots fully integrated into the game UI. Then in September 2003 Valve ended the beta of CS 1.6 and released the final client, they removed the Bots and other few things they were testing on the game (I think those things were meant to be on CS:CZ and they were just testing them into CS 1.6 beta). Do you have the original CS 1.6 bots as they were in June/July 2003?

Thank you for your interest :) Unfortunately only files we have at the moment is January/February 2003 for CS 1.6 Beta phase. We do have fully working September 2003 files that soon we will release as well :)

@@EANCHardcorE I have the Steam installer with CS 1.6 from 2003/09/16 but it unfortunatelly isn't the CS 1.6 with bots anymore :(... If I'm not mistaken, the update where the bots was removed was around 2003/09/09.

@@MCA0090 Unfortunately we don't have any other beta version apart from January/February(partial). We do have the September 2003 full installers but we will release those versions without steam later sometime

It was modified to look like online but it doesn't connect anywhere. It loads a blank account name and launches the client. Subscriptions are done by the emulator itself

Unfortunately, no (for now) maybe in the future it might get implemented but for the time being steam beta is running on basic fundamentals that leaves some stuff disabled or not working state

@@844box we haven't tried to change the language of the client as this was a steam beta, usually they only support English only due to being in beta stage

@@844box if Steam 2004 can run without depending on Valve servers, it might work but for the time being it won't work i guess.. The person who made this emulator work only worked on Steam Beta iirc as it does not require that much dependencies to main Valve servers hence why it runs without an account on the client, it acts like a shell rather than full fledged steam client
