I am getting ready to do an engine swap on my 2000 lexus es300. whoever owned the car before me clearly didn't change the oil very much. And I made the mistake of switching it to full synthetic oil which released a bunch of sludge causing the oil stem filter to get clogged up, starving the motor of oil and burning out the rods, or lifters. Got a used motor with 120k miles for $600 bucks. This video is super helpful, thank you :)

@garyb22gb it went good. It's a lot of work. But if you got the tools and a cherry picker go for it. But if you don't have experience it's going to be a big big job

About 24 hours

I applaud you, but no way im removing both just because the water pump is leaking too. Back timing plate has timing marks to line it up to do it in the car.

Hi there. Question.. my mom's es300 was just in the shop for a tranny rebuild. Since we got it back, engine oil is leaking on the floor.. Is it likely the didnt seal or put something back together properly. The shop is telling us they didnt take apart anything that would cause an oil leak.. what do you think?

Its Common sense right? before didn't leak so it leak after the repair correct. They may forgot something.

To do rear main seal you have to remove the transmission

Transmission is gone

Cant you just drop the subframe with the engine and transmission? Saves time pulling axles and all the other complicated stuff

Yes but work with Jack stand is not high enough to pull it under the car.

After you change transmission is there any common problems to look for specific ? Just swapped out my 2004 and getting ready to take her back on a 1,100 ride back home any inside information or gems you can drop on me thank you so much great job btw

Toyota and Lexus normally no issues unless you don't put enough transmission fluid.
