That thing is definitely nice. Props for keeping it clean and stock. Modded cars are dime a dozen. Everything is modded. It's cooler IMO to be the guy with the untouched, 1 owner WS6. Even if it was a 1998 Z28 with cloth seats, I'd still keep it stock. I bought a 1-owner 2001 Z06 in 2019 with 15,000 miles. I keep it stock but I do daily drive it so it's up to 40,000 miles now.

Beautiful car, love the color. I have an '02 WS6 too and was wondering where you got the last of the breed sign that is around the TCS button next to the cigarette lighter inside the car? My car also came with the Last of the Breed badging, certificate and key ring, but not that sign and I'd love to get hold of one.

modded cars are not dime a dozen. everything is not modded. arguably half the cars at any car show are stock. demonstrably most vehicles on the planet are stock. modding is great. modding can yield superiority over stock. for instance this WS6 is gorgeous but it sounds terrible. an exhaust system would be an objective improvement over its factory setup without threatening its intrinsic or appreciable value

The 98-02 WS.6 Trans Ams are my favorite cars. I was a teen when these model years came out and it's sadly true that these cars were never appreciated back then, and barely even today. But now it seems everyone wants one. It's too bad these cars never made it in any movies or TV shows. Why? These cars are hot. I passed up the opportunity to buy my dream Trans Am a few years ago, the 1999 30th anniversary Trans Am t-top.

@@yamahaguy1732 They've been going up for years, however, the real reason they're going up fast now is inflation and those auctions. The Firebird market is flooded with so many cars that aren't selling and won't sell for a very long time. People are asking $15k+ on V6 Firebirds now, none WS.6 cars with asking prices at $30k and your average WS.6 at $40k+. It's a joke. And these auction sites make people believe just because some rich guy bought Burt Reynolds Trans Am, that theirs is worth half of that now.

@@firebird5288 Omg. The prices are going up. Duh. They only made 15k firebirds in 2001 total. All trim levels. These cars made a mark on people of several age groups at that time, and those people are just now able to afford an extra car. Claiming that its some kind of bull snap for them to go up in value is like crying about any muscle car of any era ever going up in value. Super dumb, dude. Supply and demand. The demand is skyrocketing because more people appreciate what they are. Just glad i got one put in my garage last month. The value will continue to increase, at least until the apocalypse. And yeah, mine is a 2001 WS6 6 speed, built with probably 475hp, and I stole it compared to what it will be worth in another few years.

LS1 fbodies were the benchmark when they came out for a fast car. When they'd pop up at the street races everyone would hurry up to line up their own vehicle next to them to see how they compared. They didn't sell well but I don't remember anyone who didn't appreciate/respect them back when they came out.

Nice video. Good retrospective on the ws6. I'm glad that it's starting to get acknowledged for the performance car that it is. I had a similar story, I had a 88 trans am GTA in college and purchased a trans am Firehawk a couple years later about the same time as the ws6 owner. The car is all but forgotten about now probably due to it not being immortalized in pop culture. Again, damn shame because when these were new they were direct competitors for cars like the mark iv supra. Anyone curious about the 4th gen f bodies should look up old magazine articles to see how well they were regarded back in the day. Also look up old street racing videos on KZread these cars were dominating the scene during the fast and the furious hayday in the early 2000s.

I've had 2 LS1s, a 2002 Camaro SS, and then a 2000 Formula Firebird. The engines were definitely underrated a bit. My SS dyno'ed 315 HP (rated at 325) at the wheels, the Formula was 307 (rated at 310). Both stock. The WS6/SS package was also overrated in terms of HP compared to the base Z28 or TA, the difference was pretty minimal. The only reason my SS dyno'ed higher was due to the LS6 intake manifold that was on the 01-02s. God I miss those cars.

By '02, the Ponies were *still* down *90* *hp* . Shit you not, base-model V6 Firebirds would race loaded V8 'stangs 'cause it was a closer match. It took the end of F-body production and the introduction of supercharged Termi's for Ford to challenge GM's offering, and, by then, the aftermarket had risen to support the LS platform. *This is a little bit of an egotistical and condescending video. (1) Sure, this is a nice car, but for 2002 the actual 35th Anniversary edition (in either Camaro SS or T/A WS6) are the real exclusives F-body cars. This is just a regular WS6 of the same year. (2) The burnout at **2:02** is one of the weakest LS1 burnouts I've seen. This thing can't break 'em loose in 2nd, or is there a driver malfunction? I've seen 4L60e automatic cars smoke 'em twice as hard off the line and repeat the performance in 2nd gear. (3) Calling the equivalent Camaro a "catfish" and declaring the T/A a more "souped out" version at **6:17** is completely silly. Styling is subjective. Some find the T/A from this generation "gimmicked out" with all the effeminate styling cues like the taillights and pop-up headlights and useless swoops as unattractive as the 4-hole nostrils, which look tacked on and unfinished. The 1993 to 1997 T/A looked slick in the front like a flying saucer instead of an ugly schnoz.*

@@armandsmith1027 While the Camaro and Firebird have always been similar, the Firebird Trans Am was much it's own car up until the 1978 model year. The 1977 (Smokey and the Bandit) car had the "W72" 400 cubic inch (6.6L) "Bandit" engine that was pure Pontiac and might have made this car faster than a Corvette at the time and perhaps the fastest American car in that day. Later (1979-1981) had weird Oldsmobile engines and small failed 301 sucky turbo motors that were slow and unreliable. With the 3rd gen in 1982 - 1992 they received 305ci or 350ci which are clearly Chevrolet small blocks. With the 4th gen they are LT1, LT4, LS1 engines which all clearly Chevrolet engines derived from the Corvette. So this is just badge engineering. Pontiac started losing its identity when the fabulous 1967 GTO (unique body with stacked headlights) became a rebadged Chevelle (1968), the punch line being calling it "The Judge" which is an obvious tipoff from the Laugh In TV program of the time.

I am definitely not a Pontiac encyclopedia, I am just a guy who appreciates performance cars and as videographer I love to showcase performance cars to the best of my ability while learning about them.

I said "I'm not saying it's a supra but put some respect on its name" I was implying the Trans Am ws6 should have more respect in the car culture. A nice spec ws6 looks awesome and for it not to be in a fast and furious movie especially the early 2000s movies sucks a bit.
