    Any issues with oversteer after front and rear sway bar upgrades ? Have you done any SAI, EVAP,n249 deletes and any issues with it?

  • @DubM-qy1iu

    No SAI EVAP or N249 deletes...i would but I've had no issues and its nice to have one car that passes emissions in PA if i need it to. However...to your other point - YES tons of oversteer now that i run a 28mm rear sway at the stiffest setting. the car is lively back there. i never expected it when i put it in for the car to be so different. but if its raining i can get the car sideways no problem. Its not the ideal setup if you were to track it, but its not for lap times. its for me and for my sick sense of fun. i love a stiff setup - just gotta be on your toes

    2002 VW GTI 1.8T at 231,000miles either my valve seals are shot or the piston rings are worn along with the turbo being blown! I'm throwing in another 1.8 gunna be a little pricey but its such a fun car to drive

    Nice! Yeah 155k miles on mine. i was actually thinking about this yesterday. If it goes I would be throwing in another 1.8 too. Nothing available drives as well as these cars for the money. it would take $20k and a E46 M3 with coilovers to move me out of this minimum

    What size wheels and tires do you have and how much did your coilover lower the car? Thanks and love your vision.

  • @DubM-qy1iu

    @DubM-qy1iu

    Hey phillip. thanks for your message! wheels are stock GLI BBS RC 18's with 225/40/18 all around . Coilovers do not actually work well on these cars, reallybeats up the mounts. so i went with a cup kit - basically matched springs to dampers. i have the Race HR springs which lower about 2inches, with the upgraded Bilstein Sport shocks. you pay a little more for the bilstein shocks but its worth it. ride is tight - drives like a e46 M3 (i used to have one in the collection) Good Luck!

    911DubM3 Thanks for the reply. Currently looking at a cup kit with Eibach pro kit springs and Koni Yellow shocks. I live out in the sticks and don't want to go too low. Planning on 18"wheels and tires after that, then maybe start on intake downpipe exhaust and tune after that. Trying to make something fun to drive, just came from a Civic Si coupe.

    sounds good - thats a nice setup - you will notice MUCH better damping from the Koni Yellows and the Eibachs are a mild drop but will get rid of the 4x4 look. i would definitely do a tune (i have APR - NO issues) with Diverter valve. It will transform the car i promise. and keep stock reliability. GOOD LUCK!!

    @@DubM-qy1iu What 225/40/18 tire would you recommend for the summer and for the winter (I live in Northern Ontario)

  • @DubM-qy1iu

    @DubM-qy1iu

    5 жыл бұрын

    honestly for your climate i would have a set of summer wheels and a set of winter wheels. So that in winter you can run a true winter tire. and in summer a true summer tire. All season tires are a compromise and really don't do either winter or summer that well. (you get better rain and dry performance from a dedicated summer tire)@

    @@DubM-qy1iu In car terms, the upgrades plus the cost of the car is close to no money. I'm considering to get an old Jetta MK 2-4, or and old Golf, but I want to enhance it.

    @@Tru_lie13 i agree. for less than 10k you have a car thats hard as nails reliable, economical, cheap to maintain, and drives better than other cars far far beyond its price tag. Plus it looks great!

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@TheJmsJose97 Depends if you see the car as part of your future. If you like it ( i love them!) then you really don't have too much stuff to do to make it hard as nails reliable for another 130K. Apart from the obvious (coils, plugs, fluids, etc..)Heres what you need to have done: -Timing Chain Tensioner -Timing Belt -Serpentine Belt _Water Pump - Upgrade to aluminium water neck Thats pretty much it for the hard stuff. Your local indy should be able to do it for $1200 including parts And you'll have a car that can run another 10 years with simple basic maintenance!
