Thanks, One KEY thing to note is the object you stick in the hole to depress the tab that allows the cylinder to come out MUST be small enough to go into the hole to depress the tab, @ first I was trying a tool that appeared to be small enough but wasn't. After I pulled the covers it took me LESS than 15 minutes, probably 5 to pull the old cylinder and install new one.

great video and easy to follow, but after removing the cylinder i find the housing or bracket, not sure just what its called, but its what they cylinder is in, mine is worn bad and even a new cylinder is too loose to work right, the locksmith i took it to for second opinion said the housing for the cylinder needs replacing, him or no one i find has that part, i haven't gone to dealer yet, do you know what its called and where to purchase it, or even how it comes off.

I don't know the specific name, but it's probably the ignition lock cylinder housing and most likely only available from the dealer... Might be a good candidate for a junk yard run..

Thanks for the video. Does the cylinder need to be able to spin in order to remove it? My key goes in, but i cannot turn it

Yes, Somethimes you can tap on the key (I do that with my hand at some point in the video) and get it to where it will turn so you can depress the tab and get the cylinder out.

Also check to make sure the steering wheel lock isn't engaged and keeping you from turning the key. Just turn the wheel back and forth a little as you try to turn the key.

It's designed not to come out unless you can turn the key to the run position. The only way I could think to do it without the key would be to drill out the lock to get the tumblers out so you could turn the cylinder to the run position and depress the pin that holds it in place. Otherwise I believe you would need to replace the ignition switch and the lock cylinder.

Do you have to have the key to do this?

If the individual tumblers from the old cylinder have numbers on them you should be able to match them to new ones by number. Otherwise you will need the key.

Do you really need to remove that bottom panel just to remove the top panel that encases the lock cylinder?

You'll need to get new keys and a cylinder.. This car, if I remember correctly, needs to have the keys programmed to the vin and you'll need at least two.
