8 years later... Thank you. Your three videos were a huge help on my 2000 Durango
Great video. My lower hose is leaking at the housing. I have the manual and pretty much know what is needed to fix it, but this video helps out a ton.
Very good video, gave me lots of clues to replace the thermostat on my son's 01 Durango. The only incorrect info is about the 5.2 and 5.9 being the same, they are very different, the thermostat is on top of the engine, buried under the A/C Compressor, the compressor comes off very easy.
As I’m watching this doing the water pump and thermostat in 5 degree weather in Vermont lol thank you very much for the help
Also same platform as jeep grand Cherokee limited I'm having mine leaking since this cold set in in Texas good video brother
Hey Texas coder do u have a video of u installing an electric fan
thanks for your video. Thanks to you now I know where the damn thermostat is! Very informative
THhis video was very helpful and I thank you for informing me of how to take the thermostat off of my 2000 Dodge Dakota!!! Thanks and God Bless you!!!
I usually keep my old hoses and belt(s) as a backup just in case anything happens to the new ones.

It's always good to compare new hoses to the old ones first...sometimes the one that they give you from the store isn't the same size as the original. I've had this issue both times I replaced my upper hose.
On a 2001 Durango, the two thermostat bolts are 8mm. And Yes, the lower hose and thermostat can be replaced without removing the fan; you must simply rotate the blades out of the way of the bolt you are working on.
Hi nice video,I glad u make this videos on 01 dakota 4.7 motor.i have the same truck with the 16' rims
Thank you for this excellent video. I need to do this on my `02 4.7L Dakota.
this vehicle do not put out any heat
These damn engineers... who the hell puts a thermostat on the bottom side of the motor? Real jerk move on their part. It must have been too convenient on the 5.2L and 5.9L being on the tip side. 😅
You think removing the lower radiator hose would be doable without removing the fan?
The lower bolt on my thermostat housing snapped so I got a broken bolt in the housing how do I get it out

Need to change the thermostat in 2000 Dakota, is the location about the same?
the thermostat bolts are a pain to remove. dodge did not favors on placement of the 4.7liter thermostat 😂. also what a crap design on how the radiator drains all over the plastic parts of the bumper.
this auto is not putting out any heat
Great job! Do you know where the thermostat is on a 99 Dodge Dakota 2.5L? Im asking for a friend. Lol
Hi. I got to do some.just notice a weep at the bottom of the thermostat housing.01 4.7 motor.I just replace rear links feels better.check out my twin air filter i pickup on E-Bay cheap video.thanks for the help
As I'm typing this my 2k Dakota is get new radiator.
Too bad we we don't know the names of the so called engineers that design these vehicles! They want top dollar and the cost of what used to be a simple job now cost you more than a monthly payment!

Just replaced the water pump and the thermostat and the truck is still over heating so the radiator would be the next thing to change right? The coolant don't even sirculate
Pure waste of 26 minutes could have been direct and to-the-point instead of giving comment and for your own opinion. Unfortunately you are in line with most of the other people here. If we can just get to the point skip all the middle we be good to go.
