Great video. My lower hose is leaking at the housing. I have the manual and pretty much know what is needed to fix it, but this video helps out a ton.

Very good video, gave me lots of clues to replace the thermostat on my son's 01 Durango. The only incorrect info is about the 5.2 and 5.9 being the same, they are very different, the thermostat is on top of the engine, buried under the A/C Compressor, the compressor comes off very easy.

I usually keep my old hoses and belt(s) as a backup just in case anything happens to the new ones.

It's always good to compare new hoses to the old ones first...sometimes the one that they give you from the store isn't the same size as the original. I've had this issue both times I replaced my upper hose.

On a 2001 Durango, the two thermostat bolts are 8mm. And Yes, the lower hose and thermostat can be replaced without removing the fan; you must simply rotate the blades out of the way of the bolt you are working on.

These damn engineers... who the hell puts a thermostat on the bottom side of the motor? Real jerk move on their part. It must have been too convenient on the 5.2L and 5.9L being on the tip side. 😅

You think removing the lower radiator hose would be doable without removing the fan?

the thermostat bolts are a pain to remove. dodge did not favors on placement of the 4.7liter thermostat 😂. also what a crap design on how the radiator drains all over the plastic parts of the bumper.

Too bad we we don't know the names of the so called engineers that design these vehicles! They want top dollar and the cost of what used to be a simple job now cost you more than a monthly payment!

Just replaced the water pump and the thermostat and the truck is still over heating so the radiator would be the next thing to change right? The coolant don't even sirculate

Pure waste of 26 minutes could have been direct and to-the-point instead of giving comment and for your own opinion. Unfortunately you are in line with most of the other people here. If we can just get to the point skip all the middle we be good to go.
