    Thanks for the video. I was able to install the same stereo into a 2002 civic lx using most of what you posted here. To others trying this, a commenter below gave a good piece of advice on installing the mic- route the cable through the glove box instead of through the driver side. Much easier to access and you don't run the risk of tangling with pedals.

    The power antenna wire in the wiring harness adapter (blue) may or may not need power. It is easiest just to tie that into either the red ignition wire or the blue white wire on the radio. All depends on your year civic.

I checked the fuses and they are fine. Any idea what went wrong and how to fix it? -update...i disconnected the battery and reconnected it and the radio works again! Simple reset did the trick :)

    hey, I am hoping for some help here. I accidentally disconnected the wiring harness that was connected to factory wiring..i wasn't thinking and was in a rush. I need to know exactly which wire connects where..since the owner before me had after market harness installed, the wires are not color codded anymore. I have looked up diagrams, but somehow all of em have one or two colors wrong. Two of the fuses for "acc radio" have blown. I would really appreciate some help if possible, i suck with wiring.

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    @ProvoBeastAudio

    8 жыл бұрын

    Locate the ACC radio fuses and replace them, located possible both in the cabin of the civic as well as under the hood. Secondly, online wiring diagrams are good, but to be safe, you can always test with a multi meter before you hook things up.

    2 Questions, I'm about to install a Kenwood deck and I noticed on 2:12 of your video you put the dark blue wire in with the red one, I'm also using a metra wiring harness and the Kenwood harness is pretty much identical to the Pioneer harness you're using and doesn't have a matching blue wire. What is the reason for putting the blue and red wire together? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do the same thing, I'm just wondering your reason for doing this. Also, on the Kenwood deck, like the pioneer deck it has the blue wire with white stripe.. if that doesn't appear on the wire harness I got from Metra, it just stays left in its sleeve, correct?

  • @dballin2

    @dballin2

    Also, my deck has a brown wire that's used for muting purposes, do I just leave that alone or does it need to be combined with another wire also?

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    @ProvoBeastAudio

    7 жыл бұрын

    The blue wire is the power antenna and the Pioneer doesn't have a power antenna wire. So commonly, it is easiest just to tie the power antenna wire in with the ignition wire to gain power when the key is on.

    I'm a pioneer fan, sure, but it is all in the ears of the beholder. This unit specifically puts out 14 watts rms per channel which may be a hair more than your factory radio, but it also allows you to make some EQ adjustments the factory radio will not allow. It's your call, but generally i've seen greater improvements.

    You don't need the bluetooth mic, but if your radio is bluetooth compatible, in order for hands free calling and the other end to hear you, you will need a mic. But again, the mic is optional.

    Do you have to purchase a Bluetooth mic to play music off your phone? Or purchase an aux cord?

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    @ProvoBeastAudio

    7 жыл бұрын

    The bluetooth mic is only needed for bluetooth calling as it acts as the mic for those on the other end to hear you. Not necessary for streaming music via bluetooth from a phone. You will need to purchase an aux chord as these radios do not supply them.

    We don't have one, but a double din will fit fine as well, everything will be the same except for the dash kit needed, it requires the Metra 95-7899 kit. Same wiring harness and choose your double din radio.

    If you are just swapping out radios, your amp / sub system will be able to plug into the new radio, just as it is connected to the old.

    +Collin McRae If you got the security screws out from underneath (there are two of them), then the rest is held on with clips. Without damaging the dash area, carefully pry out the whole radio bezel and it should technically pop free. Good luck to ya!

    Im installing a DEH-X4900BT (the newer model of the 4800 in your video) in my 04 civic and the harness has an orange/white dimmer wire but the metra harness only has a solid orange illumination wire. What should I do with these wires??

  • @ProvoBeastAudio

    @ProvoBeastAudio

    7 жыл бұрын

    The purpose of the dimmer wire is to dim the display on the radio when the head lights are on. Essentially, the voltage changes on the dimmer wire when the headlights are turned on. If that illumination wire performs that same function, go ahead and connect that wire with the pioneer's orange and white wire.

    They are not the same size, it won't be a direct swap, but you could use the factory bracket but it would leave gaps around the radio. If you have a pocket below the radio, they are separate as shown in the video, but it isn't a perfect swap.
